Changde Vocational and Technical College is a comprehensive higher vocational college organized by the People's Government of Hunan Province, supervised by the People's Government of Changde City, and managed by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education. It was approved by the People's Government of Hunan Province in April 2003 and was formed by the merger of the former Changde Agricultural School, Changde Health School and Changde Mechanical and Electrical Engineering School. The college's operation can be traced back to the Hunan Agricultural School established in Changsha in 1905 (the 31st year of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty). The college won the excellent grade in the "Talent Training Level Assessment of the Ministry of Education" in 2006, and passed the second assessment of talent training work of the Ministry of Education in 2011; in 2012, it became a model higher vocational college in Hunan Province; in 2014, it became a recruitment unit for international students in Hunan Province; in 2017, it became a national digital campus experimental school and the second batch of modern apprenticeship pilot higher vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education; in 2018, it became the first batch of national physician qualification examination practical skills examination bases in Hunan Province; in 2020, it became a national vocational college digital campus construction model school and a demonstration base for innovation and entrepreneurship incubation of college students in Hunan Province. It is one of the first batch of 1+X certificate pilot colleges in the country. In 2022, it was successfully selected as a high-level vocational school and professional group construction unit in Hunan Province. In 2023, it was selected as a pilot school of the "Chuyi Craftsman Plan" in Hunan Province to carry out the training of undergraduate students in agronomy. The college covers an area of 1,070 acres, with a building area of 365,600 square meters, a total fixed asset value of 439 million yuan, a total value of teaching and scientific research equipment of 148 million yuan, and a collection of 1.2017 million books. The college currently has 788 in-service faculty and staff, 470 teachers with doctoral and master's degrees, 245 senior professional titles, including 56 teachers with senior professional titles; there are 15,678 full-time students. The college has teaching and auxiliary institutions such as Nursing Department, Medical Department, Pharmacy Department, Agriculture and Economics Department, Mechanical and Electrical and Information Engineering Department, Civil Engineering Department, International Education College, Basic Medicine Department, Public Course Department, Marxism College, Continuing Education College, Training Department, Library, Modern Education Technology Center, etc., and offers 26 higher vocational majors. It is a comprehensive vocational college mainly engaged in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, medicine and health, machinery manufacturing and other major majors. The college has a Class II affiliated hospital and a judicial appraisal center, and has research institutions such as the Higher Vocational Education Research Institute, Taohua Research Institute, and Jishi Drug Research Institute. The college actively serves the local economic and social development, adheres to the school-running philosophy of "education-oriented, respecting reality and emphasizing use", abides by the school motto of "strengthening ambition, learning, virtue, and innovation", adheres to the school-running model of "industry-education integration, school-enterprise cooperation", and strengthens professional construction with the overall idea of "serving the industry, leading the industry, and improving the industry".
