Capital University of Economics and Business was founded in 1956. It was formed by the merger of the former Beijing Institute of Economics and the former Beijing Institute of Finance and Trade in March 1995. It is a key university in Beijing. In the 68 years since its establishment, the school has adhered to the school motto of "Respecting morality and ability, managing the world and benefiting the people", adhered to the connotation, characteristics, and differentiated development path, and developed into a high-level research university in Beijing with economics and management as important characteristics and outstanding advantages, and law, literature, science, engineering and other disciplines supporting each other and developing in a coordinated manner. The school headquarters is located in Huaxiang, Fengtai District, focusing on full-time undergraduate and graduate education, covering an area of 293,245 square meters. The Hongmiao campus is located in Hongmiao, Chaoyang District, focusing on through-training and international student education, covering an area of 58,378 square meters. The school party committee has 25 secondary party organizations, including 17 secondary party committees, 5 party general branches, and 3 directly affiliated party branches; 237 party branches, including 100 party branches for in-service faculty and staff, 103 party branches for students, and 34 party branches for retired faculty and staff; 5,108 party members, including 1,332 in-service faculty and staff party members, 3,039 student party members, and 760 retired faculty and staff party members. The school has a total of 20 teaching units, including the School of Urban Economics and Public Administration, the School of Business Administration, the School of Economics, the School of Accounting, the School of Labor Economics, the School of Culture and Communication, the School of Management Engineering, the School of Finance and Taxation, the School of Law, the School of Finance, the School of Statistics, the School of Foreign Languages, the Overseas Chinese College, the School of Marxism, the School of International Economics and Management, the Sports Department, the International College, the School of Continuing Education, the School of Business, and the School of Data Science. The school currently has 48 undergraduate majors (directions), including 7 majors; 25 majors have been approved as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites, 14 majors have been approved as Beijing first-class undergraduate major construction sites; accounting, finance, economics, business administration and other 4 majors have been approved as Beijing universities to focus on the construction of first-class majors. Economics, labor and social security, statistics, human resources management and other 4 majors have been approved as national characteristic majors; economics, statistics, labor and social security and other 3 majors have been approved as national comprehensive reform pilot majors. The school currently has a number of national and Beijing-level first-class courses and first-class textbooks, among which "Political Economics", "Labor Economics" and "Social Security" have been approved as national-level quality courses, "Political Economics" and "Social Security" have been approved as national-level quality resource sharing courses, "Financial Accounting", "International Economics" and "International Business" have been approved as national-level bilingual teaching demonstration courses, "Enter the World of Management" has been rated as a national-level quality video open course, "Entrepreneurial Team Building and Management" has been rated as a national quality online open course, "Financial Science", "Finance", "Financial Management", "Service Marketing", "Commercial Bank Management", "Ideological and Moral Cultivation and Legal Basis", "Auditing", "Microeconomics" and "Commercial Law" have been rated as national-level first-class undergraduate courses, and "Customer Relationship Management (Essential Edition)" has won the National Excellent Textbook Award, a total of 21 courses have been approved as Beijing University Quality Undergraduate Courses, and 20 textbooks and courseware have been approved as Beijing University Quality Undergraduate Textbooks and Courseware. The school has 4 first-level discipline doctoral degree authorization points and corresponding postdoctoral research mobile stations, 11 first-level discipline master's degree authorization points, and 18 professional master's degree authorization points (fields). First-level disciplines of applied economics, business administration, and statistics were approved as high-end disciplines in Beijing, and applied economics and business administration received support from the first-class discipline project jointly built by Beijing and central universities. Labor economics, a second-level discipline under applied economics, was approved as a national key discipline and was selected as a "characteristic key discipline project" by the Ministry of Education. Applied economics and statistics were approved as first-level disciplines in Beijing, business management and accounting were approved as second-level disciplines in Beijing, management science and engineering were approved as first-level disciplines in Beijing, and political economics and other seven disciplines were approved as second-level disciplines in Beijing. Five disciplines, including labor relations, law and economics, media operations and management, urban economy and strategic management, and big data and business intelligence, were approved by the Ministry of Education as interdisciplinary disciplines. The Economics and Management Experimental Teaching Center was rated as a national higher education experimental teaching demonstration center; the Economics International Talent Cultivation Experimental Zone was rated as a national talent cultivation model innovation experimental zone; the management practice education base jointly built by the school and Deloitte Huayong Accounting Firm was approved as a national off-campus practice education base for college students; "Reform and Practice Research on the Transformation and Improvement of Economics Majors under the Background of New Liberal Arts" was approved as the first batch of new liberal arts research and reform practice projects by the Ministry of Education; "Marketing Major Virtual Teaching and Research Office" was approved as the first batch of virtual teaching and research office pilot projects by the Ministry of Education; the school was rated as a "National Ecological Civilization Education Base" and became the first batch of "International Organization Talent Cultivation Innovation Practice Base" universities. The school currently has 16,784 students, including 11,522 undergraduates, 4,482 master's students, 646 doctoral students, 91 academic education students, and 43 adult education students. The undergraduate college entrance examination admission score, graduation destination implementation rate, graduate starting annual salary, employment relevance, employer satisfaction, and career development potential are all higher than the average level of universities in Beijing. The school has trained nearly 200,000 outstanding talents for the country and Beijing. A large number of alumni are active in government departments, education, academia, finance, taxation, accounting and other industries as well as major enterprises and institutions. Nearly 80% of graduates have signed contracts with Beijing units, becoming an important force in serving the economic and social development of the capital. The school currently has more than 1,800 faculty and staff, including more than 1,000 full-time teachers, 199 professors and other senior professional titles, 395 associate professors and other associate senior professional titles, 172 doctoral supervisors, and 500 master's supervisors. 24 teachers have been awarded the Beijing Municipal Teaching Master Award; a group of teachers have won honorary titles such as Advanced Individuals in the National Education System, National Outstanding Teachers, and National Outstanding Science and Technology Workers; a group of teachers have been selected as "Changjiang Scholars" Distinguished Professors, National Outstanding Youth Fund, National High-level Talent Special Support Plan, National Cultural Celebrities and "Four Batches" Talents, Propaganda Ideology and Culture Young Talents of the Central Propaganda Department, New Century Talent Support Plan of the Ministry of Education, Young Beijing Scholars, and Beijing "High Entrepreneurship Plan". The teaching team of the human resources management course group and the teaching team of the core economics course were rated as national teaching teams; the auditing teaching team was rated as a model course of ideological and political education of the Ministry of Education, a famous teacher and a team; the finance undergraduate education team, the "learning style nourishes the heart, the legal meaning enlightens the wisdom" new era high-quality legal talent training team, the business administration undergraduate excellent business talent training team, the economics top innovative talent training team, and the marketing undergraduate excellent business talent training team were rated as excellent undergraduate education teams in Beijing universities; the School of Business Administration and the School of Statistics were approved as high-level teaching innovation teams for the faculty of Beijing-affiliated universities during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period. The school has carried out systematic career planning for teachers since 2006, and took the lead in establishing the Teacher Promotion Center (OTA) among domestic universities. The center is the earliest flexible organization for teachers in Beijing to carry out career planning and promote teacher development. In recent years, the number of national projects undertaken by the school has increased significantly, landmark research results have continued to emerge, and the ability to serve the country and the capital has been increasingly enhanced. The university has six national and provincial research institutions, including the Provincial and Ministerial Collaborative Innovation Center for Research on Economic and Social Development of Megacities, the Beijing University Philosophy and Social Sciences Innovation Center - "Two Districts" Construction Innovation Center, the Beijing Key Laboratory of Decision-making Simulation for Evolution and Sustainable Development of Urban Agglomeration Systems, and the Beijing Philosophy and Social Sciences CBD Development Research Base, Beijing Economic and Social Development Policy Research Base, and Beijing Philosophy and Social Sciences National Tax Law Research Base. The university regularly publishes four journals, "Economics and Management Research", "Population and Economy", "Journal of Capital University of Economics and Business", and "Contemporary Managers". Among them, "Economics and Management Research", "Population and Economy", and "Journal of Capital University of Economics and Business" are all selected as CSSCI source journals, Chinese Humanities and Social Sciences Journal AMI Comprehensive Evaluation Core Journals, and Peking University Core Journals. "Economics and Management Research" is also selected as FMS Management Science High-Quality Journal and China's Most Internationally Influential Academic Journal. "Population and Economy" is one of the earliest demographic journals in my country, and is selected as a national high-quality social science journal and China's internationally influential excellent academic journal. The school has signed inter-school cooperation agreements with 180 universities and research institutions in 38 countries and regions, and has been approved as a high-level international talent training innovation practice base, a new youth global competence talent training project, a Sino-foreign cooperative education project with the University of Arizona in the United States (4+0) in statistics, and a financial technology and financial econometrics innovation and talent introduction base, forming a multi-level and multi-disciplinary international talent training system with economics and management as its prominent features.
