Zhangjiakou Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general college approved by the Ministry of Education to cultivate high-end skilled professionals. It is one of the first batch of higher vocational colleges in the country. In 2001, the national key technical secondary school Zhangjiakou Agricultural Machinery Engineering School and the provincial and ministerial key technical secondary school Zhangjiakou Industrial Transportation School were successively incorporated into the college. In 2010, it was identified as a demonstration higher vocational college construction unit in Hebei Province. It was successively rated as a civilized unit, a civilized campus and a civilized unit in Zhangjiakou City. It is a provincial high-level higher vocational college project construction unit in the National Vocational Education Quality Improvement Action Plan. In the 2020, 2021 and 2022 "Jinpingguo" China Higher Vocational College Competitiveness Rankings, it has maintained an upward trend in the comprehensive and regional rankings for three consecutive years. The college is located in the main urban area of Zhangjiakou, a beautiful city outside the Great Wall. The campus scenery is fresh and elegant, and the scenery is picturesque. At present, the college has Huai'an Branch, Chongli Branch, and Xuanhua Branch, with five teaching colleges and departments including the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Information Engineering and Art Design, the School of Finance and Tourism, the Department of Civil Engineering, and the Department of Automotive Engineering, as well as the School of Marxism (Department of Ideological and Political Education) and the Basic Department. The college currently has more than 13,000 students and 521 faculty and staff. Based in Zhangjiakou and facing Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, the college takes serving the national strategy and serving the regional and local economic and social development as its mission, adheres to scientific development, connotation development, characteristic development and innovative development, and implements the strategy of quality-based school, talent-based school and characteristic-based school development. Focusing on the six leading industries in Zhangjiakou City, it gradually forms a professional layout with new energy and intelligent manufacturing professional clusters as the main body, transportation and construction engineering professional clusters as the characteristics, and information engineering and art design professional clusters, and finance and tourism management professional clusters as the two wings of coordinated development. The college is running 37 majors, including 2 provincial demonstration majors, 2 key majors in the Hebei Provincial Action Plan for the Innovation and Development of Higher Vocational Education, and 32 "1+X" certificate system pilots. There are 2 national-level training bases, 1 provincial-level training base and 2 majors approved by the central government for the project of improving professional service development capabilities of higher vocational schools. It has 9 on-campus training centers, 74 on-campus practice bases, and 75 off-campus training bases such as Lynk & Co. It has a national-level vocational skills appraisal institute, an authorized teaching base for the China Automotive Talent Training Project, and a special skills certification training and assessment base. It is an employment (entrepreneurship) service base for college graduates in Hebei Province. Since the establishment of the college, more than 100,000 college and technical secondary school graduates have grown into high-end technical and skilled talents, from the lush campus to the workplace, active in the front line of production, construction, service, and management of the motherland, and have become an indispensable backbone force for regional economic and social development.
