Tianjin Bohai Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public higher vocational college approved by the Tianjin Municipal Government and registered by the Ministry of Education of China. The college covers an area of 671 acres and has a total building area of 310,000 square meters. It is located in Tianjin, the birthplace of China's modern chemical industry and a demonstration zone for innovation and reform of modern vocational education in China, on the beautiful coast of the Bohai Sea. The history of the college's chemical vocational education can be traced back to 1958, and the college was established in 2001. Over the past 60 years since its establishment, the college's vocational education has been deeply influenced by the patriotic spirit of modern industrialists and scientists such as Fan Xudong, Hou Debang, and Li Zhuchen. It has inherited the genes of self-improvement and the blood of the enterprise, and has inherited the fine cultural traditions of the pioneers of the chemical industry. It shoulders the important task of cultivating technical and skilled talents for modern chemical enterprises, and has cultivated a large number of outstanding skilled talents for the development of the chemical industry in Tianjin and even the whole country, and has won the reputation of "Huangpu Military Academy for Chemical Enterprise Talents". In 2019, the college was established by the Ministry of Education as a construction unit of the high-level higher vocational school and professional construction plan with Chinese characteristics. Tianjin is a project construction unit of world-class advanced vocational colleges, a demonstration unit of cultural construction of Chinese petroleum and chemical industry colleges, a national-level high-quality junior college, and has one first prize in national education and teaching achievements. It has been rated as an advanced unit of ideological and political work in China's chemical industry, an advanced unit of vocational education in Tianjin, an advanced unit of the "May 1st" Labor Award in Tianjin, a civilized school in Tianjin, and one of the first batch of Tianjin higher vocational demonstration schools. The college has built a modern vocational education group-based school-running system by deeply connecting with the industrial chain and giving full play to the advantages of industry, academia and research. It has seven secondary colleges and three teaching departments, with more than 11,000 students, one school-enterprise joint undergraduate major, 45 higher vocational majors, and an average annual employment rate of 95%. Among them, the central government supports 2 characteristic majors, 4 international majors, and 1 national and municipal education reform demonstration major each. In addition, the college has 5 key majors, 4 productive training bases, 1 "dual-qualified" teacher training base, and 1 collaborative innovation center selected into the "Action Plan for the Innovation and Development of Higher Vocational Education (2015-2018)" project and passed the national certification. The college has a team of teachers who are proficient in business, enterprising and energetic. There is 1 expert with special government allowance from the State Council, 22 professors, 3 senior engineers, and well-known experts from foreign universities such as the United States and France are invited as visiting professors; there are 6 doctors, 231 masters, and 211 senior titles or above; 6 provincial and ministerial teaching masters, and 5 provincial and ministerial excellent teaching teams. The college has built a petrochemical and chemical instrument training base that is first-class among similar colleges in the country and the largest among higher vocational colleges in Tianjin. 156 off-campus training bases have been built with industry enterprises. Among them, 3 training bases are vocational education training base construction projects supported by the central government. The college is one of the first national demonstration training bases for vocational education and training in the petroleum and chemical industry, and a training base for skilled talents in short supply in the Binhai New Area. It provides training for industry enterprises and schools with an average of 20,000 people per year. The college has a wide international influence. In 2016, the first "Luban Workshop" outside China was built, with a construction area of 2,000 square meters. It has trained more than 4,000 vocational and skilled talents for Thailand and its neighboring countries, trained more than 500 teachers, and many people won awards in their national skills competitions, building a bridge for Tianjin vocational education to dialogue and communicate with the world, and becoming a leader in exporting the soft power of China's vocational education. So far, the college's "Luban Workshop" has recruited 162 international students for academic education and 764 teachers and students for short-term exchanges and training. Four international majors of the "Luban Workshop" have been certified by the Thai Vocational and Technical Committee (VEC), and international students have won the gold medal in the industrial automation professional competition of the Thai National Labor Skills Competition. The college was identified by the Tianjin Municipal Education Commission as the first batch of internship and practice bases for foreign students. It was awarded the "Princess Sirindhorn" medal by the Thai government and won the title of the top 50 schools with international influence in national vocational colleges and the top 50 schools with influence in Asia-Pacific vocational colleges. The college attaches importance to the all-round development of students' morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor, and continuously deepens the "three-dimensional education" education model. It focuses on cultivating a good school spirit and vigorously strengthens the construction of campus culture. By holding various skill competitions, it creates a learning concept of "labor is glorious and skills are supreme" for students, so as to achieve the purpose of cultivating morality and skills simultaneously. Since 2007, it has hosted the "Bohai Cup" National Petroleum and Chemical Vocational College Student Chemical Inspection Skills Competition; since 2012, it has continued to host the National Vocational College Skills Competition Industrial Analysis and Inspection Competition for the secondary vocational group 6 times and the higher vocational group 7 times, and hosted the higher vocational group water environment monitoring and governance technology competition once; hosted the World Skills Competition Tianjin Selection Competition 4 times; hosted the Tianjin State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission Employee Competition 8 times. It has won the first prize of the National Vocational College Skills Competition 12 times, the second prize 6 times, and the third prize 9 times. Won the first prize 12 times, the second prize 16 times, and the third prize 9 times in the vocational skills competition of various industries. Won the bronze medal of China's "Internet +" College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition once. Won the second prize twice and the third prize 4 times in the "Challenge Cup-Rainbow Life" National Vocational School Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship Competition. Teachers participated in the teaching ability competition of the National Vocational School Skills Competition and won 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, and 2 third prizes. 25 people won the title of excellent instructor of the National Vocational School Skills Competition, and 7 people won the title of excellent referee. Completed 43 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels or above; 173 bureau-level scientific research and innovation projects were approved; 35 school-enterprise cooperation projects were approved. Won 65 scientific research achievement awards at all levels and types, and obtained 70 authorized technical patents.
