Shandong Agricultural University is located at the foot of the majestic Mount Tai. Its predecessor was the Shandong Higher Agricultural School founded in Jinan in 1906. After several changes, it was established as Shandong Agricultural College in 1952 after the adjustment of colleges and departments across the country. In 1958, it moved from Jinan to Tai'an and was renamed Shandong Agricultural University in 1983. In July 1999, the former Shandong Agricultural University and Shandong Water Conservancy College merged, and Shandong Forestry School was incorporated to form the new Shandong Agricultural University. At present, the school has developed into a multi-disciplinary university with agricultural science as its advantage and life science as its feature, integrating agriculture, science, engineering, management, economics, literature, law, art, and education. The school is a university jointly established by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the People's Government of Shandong Province, and the State Forestry and Grassland Administration and the People's Government of Shandong Province. It is one of the first batch of pilot universities for the reform of the Excellent Agricultural and Forestry Talent Education and Training Program of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, and the State Forestry and Grassland Administration. It is one of the first five application-based characteristic famous universities in Shandong Province, a high-level university in Shandong Province "rushing to the first-class" construction university, and the first National Civilized Campus. In recent years, the employment quality of school graduates has ranked among the top provincial universities, and the average rate of undergraduate graduates pursuing further studies is above 39%. It has won the top 50 universities with typical experience in graduate employment in the country and the top 50 universities with typical experience in innovation and entrepreneurship in the country.
