In the 1980s, Sichuan opera art built a bridge between the founder of the school, Yu Kaiyuan, and the older generation of revolutionaries. In order to realize the exhortation of the older generation of revolutionaries, Comrade Deng Xiaoping, to "establish an art university and return art to the people", Yu Kaiyuan established Sichuan Kaiyuan Art College in 1999. Afterwards, it cooperated with Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and Sichuan Normal University to establish the Chengdu Branch of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute and the School of Design and Art of Sichuan Normal University to carry out full-time general undergraduate and junior college art talent training. In April 2002, with the approval of the Sichuan Provincial People's Government and the filing of the Ministry of Education, Chengdu Art Vocational College was established; in December 2018, the Ministry of Education officially approved the school to be upgraded to an undergraduate college and renamed Chengdu Art Vocational University, becoming the first batch of undergraduate vocational education pilot universities in the country and the first in Sichuan; in September 2022, the Degree Committee of the Sichuan Provincial People's Government approved the new bachelor's degree awarding unit of Chengdu Art Vocational University. After more than 20 years of pioneering and striving, the school has developed into the largest art college in Sichuan and even in the southwest region, focusing on cultural and artistic majors, and has trained more than 50,000 high-level technical and skilled talents for the society. The school implements General Secretary Xi Jinping's important instructions that "the prosperity of a country and a nation is always supported by the prosperity of culture, and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation requires the development and prosperity of Chinese culture." The school harmoniously unifies art and education, allowing every student to enhance their confidence in Chinese culture. A large number of experts and professors with profound cultural heritage and high artistic attainments lead students to explore the sea of art and cultivate the artistic cultivation of college students in the new era. In the early days of the school, Yu Kaiyuan, the founder of the school, a famous performing artist, a national first-class actor, and a national representative inheritor of the intangible cultural heritage of "Sichuan Opera", invited the famous film artist Xie Jin to serve as the first president of the school, and successively invited Professor Ran Changguang and Professor Diao Chunzhi, well-known higher education experts, as the executive presidents of the school. The school currently has more than 1,100 faculty and staff, and more than 17,000 full-time undergraduate and junior college students. The school adheres to the school-running philosophy and characteristics of integrating production and education, science and education, and actively cooperates closely with the government, enterprises and enterprises. It has successively built a "non-legacy" training base with the International Training Center for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region of UNESCO, and co-built the Western Creation Base of the Chinese Academy of Arts with the Chinese Academy of Arts. The original dances "Koi" and "The Most Beautiful Reverser" won the Gold Award of the China University Student Art Festival, the Best Work Award of the Fourth Sichuan Youth Dance Competition and the Sichuan Province 2020 Annual Hundred "Excellent Projects", and the public art work "Lighting and Decorating" was rated as the "Top Ten Public Art Works in the World" by the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee. The school currently has 12 secondary colleges, as well as teaching units such as the School of International Education, the School of Continuing Education, the School of Marxism, and the Department of Public Teaching; it has opened 18 undergraduate and 36 junior college majors in environmental art design, landscape engineering, visual communication design, clothing and apparel design, digital media art, Internet and new media, film and television photography and production, fine arts, dance performance and choreography, music performance, broadcasting and hosting, film and television choreography, social sports guidance and management, big data and financial management, engineering cost, all-media news editing and production, preschool education, tourism management, and e-commerce. The school adheres to the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating people, actively connects with Sichuan's "culturally strong province" strategy, serves the inheritance and innovation of Bashu culture, and sets the development direction of cultivating mid-to-high-end cultural and artistic talents.
