Hebei Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1956. It has successively established schools in Chengde, Shijiazhuang, Baoding, Handan and other places. It is now located in Xingtai City, facing the beautiful Taihang Mountains to the west. The Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, Beijing-Hong Kong-Macao Expressway, Xingheng Expressway and Xingfen Expressway run through the city, with convenient transportation. Guo Moruo wrote the name of the school twice. In April 2003, the People's Government of Hebei Province approved the school to be independently upgraded to a general college and renamed it "Hebei Mechanical and Electrical Vocational and Technical College". The college is a state-run full-time general college affiliated to the Hebei Provincial Department of Education. It is a model higher vocational college in Hebei Province, a high-quality higher vocational college in Hebei Province, a construction unit of the Hebei Higher Vocational "Double High" Plan Project, a national key college in the electromechanical industry, an excellent vocational college for school-enterprise cooperation and talent training in the national machinery industry, a national demonstration vocational education group cultivation unit, a leading unit of the Hebei Equipment Manufacturing Vocational Education Group, a national demonstration vocational education group (alliance) cultivation unit, and a deputy secretary-general unit of the "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Modern Manufacturing Vocational Education Group". From then on, the college entered the ranks of cultivating applied technical undergraduate talents, laying a good foundation for the mutual connection of the rising channels from junior colleges, undergraduates to postgraduates. In July 2019, the 20th Hebei University Games was grandly held in our college. As the first higher vocational college in the history of Hebei Province to successfully host the Universiade, it has received unanimous praise from provincial and municipal leaders, participating colleges and universities, and all walks of life. The college covers an area of nearly 800 acres, with fixed assets of 679 million yuan. It recruits students from all over the country and has 16,000 students. It has 48 majors, including mechanical manufacturing and automation, numerical control technology, electrical automation technology, drone application technology, industrial robot technology, automobile inspection and maintenance technology, new energy vehicle technology, intelligent welding technology, construction engineering technology, software technology, big data and accounting, leisure sports, etc., covering 8 fields such as equipment manufacturing, electronic information, finance and trade, etc. Among them, there are 5 key construction majors of vocational education supported by the central government, 3 national mechanical industry specialty majors, 2 Hebei demonstration majors, and 2 majors of Hebei Province's education industry standard implementation model schools, forming a school-running pattern of "engineering-oriented, liberal arts and management" with the equipment manufacturing professional group as the leader and the coordinated development of related professional groups. The college has four national training bases, namely “National Training Base for CNC Technology Skilled Talents in Shortage”, “National Demonstration Electrical, Electronic and Automation Technology Training Base”, “Machinery Manufacturing and Automation Training Base Supported by the Central Finance” and “National Automotive Electronics Training Base Supported by the Central Finance”. It has the Hebei Provincial Colleges and Universities Metal Materials Processing and Digital Forming Application Technology R&D Center, and the Collaborative Innovation Center for Mechanical and Electrical Professional Application Technology; it has 154 on-campus internship and training venues, including an internship and training center that can accommodate 800 students at the same time and can conduct productive training in multiple types of work such as machinery, electricity, clamps, casting, welding, and molds, as well as 281 off-campus training and industry-university cooperation bases; it has a national vocational skill appraisal institute, an adult higher education correspondence station, and national, provincial, and municipal skill training bases, which can undertake the assessment and appraisal of 35 X certificate pilot projects at the same time. The college has 693 faculty members, including 34 senior professional and technical titles, 116 associate senior professional and technical titles, 255 dual-qualified teachers, 418 staff with master's degrees or above, 5 Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Achievement Review Experts, 12 members of the National Mechanical Industry Professional Steering Committee, and 15 people serve in provincial and ministerial education and teaching research associations. It has formed a faculty team with excellent quality and reasonable structure, and has a great influence on the education and teaching reforms in the national mechanical industry education system and the Hebei Provincial Higher Vocational Education System. The college continues to deepen the reform of education and teaching, actively explores and practices the talent training model of school-enterprise integration, integration of learning and work, and dual cultivation of morality and skills to meet the needs of regional economic development. The college pays attention to foreign exchanges and cooperation, and has established friendly cooperative relations with many colleges and universities in more than 20 countries, including Germany, the United States, Canada, the Netherlands, New Zealand, South Korea, Malaysia, etc. In recent years, the college has published 416 books (textbooks), 1,793 papers, approved one national "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" project for education science, 68 provincial projects, 406 municipal projects, obtained 551 authorized patents, and won 313 awards of various levels and types. It has built a provincial science demonstration base "UAV Intelligent Application Science Popularization Base". Students have won one international award, 62 national awards, 592 provincial and ministerial awards, and 459 municipal awards in various skill competitions at all levels.
