Meishan Vocational and Technical College (hereinafter referred to as "the school") is a full-time public higher vocational college organized by the People's Government of Meishan City. It is a national and Sichuan Provincial Rural Revitalization Talent Training High-quality School, Sichuan Provincial Demonstration Higher Vocational College, and Sichuan Provincial "Double High" Cultivation and Construction School. The school is located in Meishan City, Sichuan Province, the hometown of Dongpo-the Thousand-year Poetry and Book City. It is 60 kilometers away from the provincial capital Chengdu, 50 kilometers away from Shuangliu International Airport and Chengdu Tianfu International Airport. The high-speed train between Chengmei and Meishan is operated as a public bus, with a superior location and convenient transportation; the school is located on the bank of the Minjiang River and the bridgehead of the Second Minjiang Bridge in Meishan. The campus is surrounded by mountains and rivers, surrounded by parks, and the campus environment is beautiful. It is an ideal place for students to study hard. The school was formed by the merger of two high-quality technical secondary schools, Meishan Normal School and Meishan Agricultural School. The predecessor of Meishan Normal School was Meishan National Normal School, founded in 1927, and it is an excellent normal school for standardization construction of the Ministry of Education. Meishan Agricultural School was formerly the Leshan Special District Agricultural School founded in 1958. It is a provincial and ministerial key technical secondary school. In 2002, with the approval of the provincial government and the filing of the Ministry of Education, the two schools merged to form Meishan Vocational and Technical College. In 2019, with the approval of the provincial government, the school added the name of Meishan Technician College. In 2021, with the approval of the Meishan Municipal Government, the Meishan Transportation Vocational and Technical School (Meishan Transportation Technical School), founded in 1979, was fully incorporated into the school. The school has perfect conditions for running schools. It covers an area of more than 500 acres, with a building area of more than 250,000 square meters. There are 157 on-campus experimental training rooms and 198 off-campus training bases, including 2 training bases supported by the central government. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment assets is 90.6069 million yuan, and the collection of paper books is more than 677,783 volumes. The school also has Meishan City Public Training Base, Advanced Energy Laboratory, Analysis and Testing Center, Animal Disease Diagnosis Center, Municipal Party History and Local Chronicles Museum, Municipal Education Base for Strengthening the Consciousness of the Chinese Nation Community, One-Stop Service Center for Student Affairs, Sichuan Province Course Ideological and Political Research Center, etc. The school has a strong faculty. There are 536 faculty members, including 22 doctors (including 5 students), 247 masters, and 49.3% of them are doctors and masters; 23 are senior professional titles and 82 are associate senior professional titles, accounting for 19.6%. Among the 340 full-time teachers, there are 198 "dual-qualified" teachers, accounting for 58.2%. There are teacher development platforms such as Sichuan Skill Master Studio, Sichuan Craftsman Talent Innovation Studio, Provincial "Dual-qualified" Master Studio, and Teacher Party Branch Secretary "Double Leader" Studio. The school insists on running majors around the pillar industries of Meishan, vigorously develops advanced manufacturing majors, especially energy power and materials, biology and chemical engineering majors urgently needed by Meishan's new energy and new materials industry, focuses on consolidating and improving traditional advantageous majors in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery, education and sports, and continuously develops civil engineering, equipment manufacturing, finance and trade, tourism, culture and art majors, forming a professional layout that promotes traditional advantages and serves local industries. There are 30 majors for enrollment, including 1 provincial "double high" construction major group, 1 key major for central fiscal major construction, 2 backbone majors of the National Higher Vocational Education Innovation and Development Action Plan, 1 national modern apprenticeship pilot major, 2 provincial key majors, and 3 demonstration majors of vocational colleges in Sichuan Province. Since 2019, 119 national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects have been approved, and 22 provincial and municipal scientific research achievement awards have been won. The faculty and staff have published more than 1,200 papers and obtained 24 patents for invention. The school firmly implements the statutory responsibilities of both education and training, and vigorously carries out vocational skills training. It has established provincial high-skilled talent training bases, provincial modern agricultural technology training bases, provincial new professional farmers training demonstration bases, provincial high-quality farmers training demonstration bases, municipal family education research and guidance centers, municipal "1+3" leading industry high-skilled talent training bases and other platforms, and has established Meishan Gaozhiyuan Motor Vehicle Driving Training Co., Ltd. Since 2019, a total of 368 adult education and online education students have been enrolled, and 121,310 people have been trained at all levels and types for the society, with a total amount of 44.172 million yuan; 2,433 people have completed vocational skills appraisals and 2,384 people have completed special vocational ability assessments; and nearly 210,000 people have taken social examinations at all levels and types.
