Liaoyuan Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1958. It was formerly known as Liaoyuan Mining College. It is one of the 71 key schools in the national construction industry skilled talent training project identified by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Construction. Over the past 66 years, the college has developed into the first and second batches of demonstration higher vocational colleges in Jilin Province, a high-level college with characteristics in Jilin Province, a key construction unit of the national "modern apprenticeship system" and "dual cultivation" pilot city, a national vocational college digital campus construction experimental school, and a national high-skilled talent training base. The college covers an area of 541,600 square meters and a building area of 311,300 square meters. There are 10,575 full-time higher vocational students. The disciplines of the college are mainly engineering, covering engineering, science, literature, economics, management, and art. There are currently 14 major professional categories and 56 higher vocational majors. There are 6 high-level majors in ordinary colleges and universities in Jilin Province, 1 high-level major, 3 provincial demonstration majors, 1 provincial characteristic major, 5 "511" majors (groups) serving the seven major industrial clusters in Liaoyuan City, 1 "medical and nursing integration" professional group for cultivating compound talents for the elderly care service industry, and 1 "oral medicine technology" major for Sino-German high-end medical and technical talents. The college adheres to a scientific talent training model to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents with innovative spirit. There are 61 off-campus training bases, 11 on-campus training centers, and 254 experimental training rooms, of which 3 training rooms and 2 internship factories are supported by the central government.
