Zhenjiang College of Higher Education was established in 1992 with the approval of the Ministry of Education through the merger of the former Zhenjiang Education College, Zhenjiang Vocational University and the Zhenjiang Branch of Jiangsu Radio and Television University. It is an excellent school in the talent training level assessment of the Ministry of Education and a high-level vocational school with Chinese characteristics in Jiangsu Province. The origin of the school can be traced back to the Zhengze Girls' School founded by Mr. Lv Fengzi, a pioneer of vocational education, a famous Chinese painting master and educator in 1912. It has a history of more than 100 years. The school is located in Zhenjiang City, Jiangsu Province, a famous historical and cultural city. It currently has five campuses, including the main campus, Danyang campus, Runzhou campus, Nanxu campus and Xuefu Road campus. The main campus is located in the southern foot of the beautiful Shilichang Mountain in Dantu District. It is built on the mountain and gathers talents. The school inherits Mr. Lv Fengzi's educational thought of "respecting love and pursuing beauty", adheres to the development of students as the center, emphasizes family services, and cares for students in an all-round way. It has formed the school-running characteristics of "humanistic literacy + professional ability = sustainable development quality", and the characteristic brand of cultural education has won the Ministry of Education's Outstanding Achievement Award for College Cultural Construction. The school closely follows the characteristics of higher vocational education and the needs of local economic and social development, conscientiously implements the concept of "combining work and study" in talent training, adheres to the "professional" and "higher education" of talent training, and has established the "four platforms (Flat) and eight modules (Module)" (abbreviated as 4F8M) higher vocational course model, solidly promotes the organic connection between academic certificates and professional qualification certificates, and the organic connection between professional ability and basic quality ability, and cultivates high-quality application-oriented talents needed for local economic and social construction. The school moved to the Zhenjiang University Park in 2017, covering an area of nearly 1,000 acres. The total value of teaching equipment is nearly 160 million yuan. There are 12 secondary colleges (departments) and 47 majors, including 3 key majors supported by the central government to improve professional service industry capabilities, 3 provincial "12th Five-Year Plan" key majors (groups), 3 provincial high-level backbone majors, 2 provincial brand specialty majors, and 2 provincial high-level professional groups. During the "13th Five-Year Plan", the school focused on creating "three major professional combinations", namely: integrating equipment manufacturing, electrical, transportation and other majors to build a "full process" productive professional combination of Zhenjiang intelligent manufacturing and create a new engineering sector; integrating humanities, tourism, art, finance and trade, preschool education and other majors to build a "full range" of intelligent professional combinations of Zhenjiang's cultural industry and create a new liberal arts sector; integrating pharmaceutical chemicals, health care, optometry and other majors to build a "full cycle" service-oriented professional combination of Zhenjiang's people's livelihood undertakings and create a large health sector. There are 10 pilot projects of the "1+X" certificate system, 13 provincial quality courses, 50 published teaching materials combining work and study, 20 national planning teaching materials and provincial key teaching materials; there are 60 on-campus training bases, 150 on-campus training laboratories such as numerical control, automation system, embedded system, and 164 off-campus training and internship bases. The school library has nearly 800,000 paper books and more than 3 million electronic resource books. The school has research and service institutions such as the National Patent Navigation Research Base, the Zhenjiang Branch of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt Research, the Zhenjiang Tourism Society, the Lv Fengzi Cultural Education Research Institute, the Comprehensive Quality Education Research Institute, the Shen Kuo Research Institute and the Pearl S. Buck Research Institute, and has established close cooperative relations with schools such as the University of the West of England in the United Kingdom and the University of South Korea. In recent years, the school has been approved as a high-level vocational school with Chinese characteristics in Jiangsu Province, and has undertaken one Jiangsu Engineering Research Center, one Jiangsu University Philosophy and Social Sciences Key Construction Base, one Jiangsu University Philosophy and Social Sciences Excellent Innovation Team, one Jiangsu University Excellent Science and Technology Innovation Team, one Jiangsu Higher Vocational College Engineering Technology Research and Development Center, one Jiangsu Higher Vocational College Social Science Application Research Collaborative Innovation Base, and three Zhenjiang Key Laboratories; it has undertaken 110 scientific research projects at the provincial and ministerial levels, including 4 projects of the Ministry of Education Humanities and Social Sciences Research Fund, 4 projects of the Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and 1 project of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology Science and Technology Plan. The school has 10 projects, 4 provincial natural science fund projects, 3 provincial social science fund projects, 7 provincial social science applied research projects, and 78 provincial philosophy and social science projects; it has won 12 scientific research awards at or above the provincial level, including 9 government awards; it has undertaken 186 horizontal cooperation projects between local governments and enterprises; it has provided 53 policy consulting reports for ministries, commissions, bureaus, cities, counties and districts; it has obtained 888 patents authorized for the results of enterprise technological innovation and research and development, including 158 invention patents; it has published more than 700 high-level academic papers, including 164 papers included in SCI, EI, SSCI, CSSCI, etc. "Journal of Zhenjiang Polytechnic" was rated as an excellent social science journal of national universities and an excellent science and technology journal of Chinese universities. The school enrolls students from 24 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) across the country. There are more than 11,000 full-time students and more than 1,000 students who are enrolled in undergraduate programs. More than 10 students have won the "Top Ten Self-improvement Stars of Chinese College Students", the "Fourth China Mother River Award" nomination award and the National Mao Yisheng Education Award. Two teams have won the honorary title of "Outstanding Summer Social Practice Team for Promoting Putonghua" by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the Ministry of Education. 1,314 students have won national scholarships and inspirational scholarships. More than 22 teachers and students have won advanced honors in the provincial and municipal Communist Youth League system. 10 teams and 41 teachers and students have won the title of Advanced Summer Social Practice in Jiangsu Province's "Three Going to the Countryside". Nearly 50 students have won awards in the National Higher Vocational and Technical College Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, 90 students have won provincial outstanding student cadres (three good students), and more than 470 students have won awards in national, provincial and municipal professional skills competitions. The "Warm Homeward Journey" public welfare project has funded 389 people throughout the year and was awarded the "Most Influential Charity Project" by Zhenjiang City. In the 7th Jiangsu University Art Exhibition, the school won the first prize for chorus, the second prize for dance, the third prize for small chorus, the third prize for recitation, and the Outstanding Creation Award for Vocal Music, 2 third prizes for the reform and innovation of college aesthetic education, 5 third prizes for art works, and the school won the Outstanding Organization Award. The school actively explores the construction of a modern vocational education system, cooperates with Jiangsu University of Science and Technology to carry out the "4+0" joint training of higher vocational and undergraduate education, and jointly carries out the "3+2" segmented training of higher vocational and undergraduate education with Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine and Jiangsu Institute of Technology, and leads a number of provincial and municipal key secondary vocational schools to carry out "3+3" and "4+2" segmented training of secondary vocational and higher vocational education.
