Huainan Vocational and Technical College is one of the first batch of demonstration higher vocational colleges in Anhui Province, a local skill-based high-level university construction college in Anhui Province, a school construction unit of Anhui Province's "Double High Plan", a pilot college for joint training of junior colleges and undergraduates in Anhui Province, a pilot college for the modern apprenticeship system of the Ministry of Education, and a national demonstration vocational education group cultivation unit. Anhui Polytechnic Technician College is one of the first batch of technician colleges approved by the Anhui Provincial People's Government. The school was founded in April 1951 and was organized by Huaihe Energy Group. It has successively gone through the school-running stages of Huainan Coal Mine Industrial College, Huainan Mining Bureau Medical University, Huainan Mining Bureau Staff University, and Huainan Industrial College Vocational and Technical College. In 1999, with the approval of the Anhui Provincial Department of Education, it began to recruit students for higher vocational education. In June 2000, with the approval of the Anhui Provincial People's Government, the former Huainan Industrial College Vocational and Technical College, Huainan Mining Group Senior Technical School, and Huainan Coal Sports School were merged to form Huainan Vocational and Technical College. The school currently has three campuses, covering an area of about 1,600 acres and a construction area of 500,000 square meters. It has ten teaching units, including the School of Energy Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (Haier Intelligent College), the School of Intelligent and Electrical Engineering, the School of Engineering Management, the School of Economics and Management, the School of Humanities and Education, the School of Medicine, the School of Marxism, the School of Continuing Education and the School of Technicians, with more than 23,000 full-time undergraduate and technical students. The school adheres to the school motto of "cultivating morality and establishing oneself, strengthening skills and establishing a career", and is committed to building a high-level "dual-teacher" structure professional teaching team. There are more than 400 faculty and staff, including more than 200 associate senior titles and above, and 9 doctors (including those studying). There is one ideological and political teaching team of the Ministry of Education, eight famous teachers, one excellent teaching team in the national coal industry, two national coal teaching teachers, 11 advanced workers in national coal education, eight coal industry skill masters (teaching and scientific research personnel), three coal industry skill master studios (teaching and scientific research personnel), four national leaders of coal majors in vocational education, 25 provincial teaching teams, 18 provincial teaching masters (including online teaching masters), and 22 new teachers (including online teaching newcomers). Seven teachers were selected into the Anhui Provincial Industry Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee, two teachers were selected into the National Coal Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee, and two teachers were selected into the National Safety Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee. The school also hired more than 200 senior technical experts, technical masters and skilled craftsmen from the industry and enterprises as part-time teachers. The school is based on the energy industry, taking into account the local economy, society and industry enterprises, actively adapting to the development needs of Anhui Province's innovation-driven industrial transformation and upgrading, adhering to the characteristic development, focusing on intelligent manufacturing, artificial intelligence, new energy, etc., and building professional clusters such as intelligent manufacturing, intelligent control, and resource and environmental development. Focusing on the development of modern service industries, it has built professional clusters such as medicine and health, economic trade, and domestic services. It has 2 national majors, 2 majors supported by the central government, 1 modern apprenticeship pilot major of the Ministry of Education, and 33 provincial high-level, demonstration, and characteristic majors; it has opened 28 technician majors, including 22 intermediate worker majors and 6 senior worker majors, and 9 technician majors for the training of in-service employees of Huaihe Energy Holding Group. The school vigorously develops undergraduate education. It has jointly carried out undergraduate education in safety engineering and nursing with Anhui University of Science and Technology. It has also opened 14 self-study and examination-assisted majors in mechatronics engineering, preschool education, accounting, e-commerce, nursing, and art design with Hefei University of Technology, Anhui Normal University, Anhui University of Finance and Economics, Bengbu Medical College, Anhui University of Technology, etc. It has formed a multi-level, multi-form, and complete high-quality skilled talent training system including undergraduate, higher vocational, secondary vocational education, international education, continuing education, and technical education. The school adheres to open education, actively implements the "dual-wheel drive" of vocational education and social training, and the "three major strategic cooperations" of school-enterprise, school-school, and school-local. Cooperate with Tokyo Welfare University in Japan to hold Sino-Japanese boutique classes. It has a provincial continuing education base, a provincial coal mine safety training center and a senior technical school. It is the "Veterans Education and Training Base" and "Veterans Employment and Entrepreneurship Park" of Anhui Province, the "Personnel Examination Base", "Cadre Training Base" and "Veterans Employment and Entrepreneurship Training Base" of Huainan City. It has the high, medium and primary vocational and technical level appraisal qualifications for general and special jobs authorized by the labor department, and can issue corresponding vocational qualification certificates. In 2022, the number of social training will reach 60,000, ranking first among colleges and universities in the province. The school insists on deepening school-enterprise cooperation and deeply promoting the integration of production and education. There are 1 on-campus internship factory, 1 coal mine safety education warning hall, and more than 160 on-campus training rooms. It has 2 "vocational education training bases" supported by the central government, 8 provincial demonstration experimental training centers, 5 provincial talent training model innovation experimental zones, 7 provincial school-enterprise cooperation practice education bases, and 4 provincial vocational education innovation and development experimental zone cultivation bases. More than 200 off-campus internship and training bases have been built through vocational education groups, apprenticeships, title classes, and co-construction of skill master studios with enterprises. The school is an advanced employment collective for college graduates in Anhui Province. For many years, the employment rate has remained above 95%, ranking among the top similar colleges in the province. On November 11, 2011, Comrade Zhang Dejiang, then member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, pointed out during his inspection of the school: "What our country lacks most now is vocational and technical education. Running such a school is very distinctive and very suitable for the development and construction of coal mining enterprises, providing talent support for enterprises". Zhou Ji, former president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Zhang Baoshun, former secretary of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee, Xie Guangxiang, vice governor of Anhui Province, Wang Cuifeng, vice governor of Anhui Province, Zhao Zhenhua, former director of the Anhui Provincial Department of Education, Ren Zefeng, secretary of the Huainan Municipal Party Committee, and Chen Rujiang, chairman of the Municipal People's Congress Standing Committee, and other leaders have visited the school and fully affirmed our school's operation. The school has always adhered to characteristic development and innovative development. After more than 70 years of development and construction, the school's achievements have been widely recognized by the society. The school is a popular science education base for the coal industry, a national 3A scenic spot, an intangible cultural heritage inheritance base in Anhui Province, a coal industry research and study base in Anhui Province, a "one school, one product" unit for the construction of campus culture of vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education, and the first batch of college learning achievement certification service centers for lifelong education credit banks in Anhui Province.
