Sanya Sino-Swiss Hotel Management Vocational College is a full-time general higher vocational college approved by the Hainan Provincial People's Government. The college is invested and built by China Communications Construction, with academic certification provided by the Lausanne Hotel Management School in Switzerland, and Beijing Sino-Swiss Hotel Management School is responsible for operation and management. The college is located in Haitang Bay, Sanya City, Hainan Province, surrounded by mountains, lakes and the sea, adjacent to Sanya International Duty Free City and Haitang Bay International Hotel Industry Belt, with a planned land area of 362 acres, of which the first phase of the college construction land is 222 acres, and the planned building area is 205,600 square meters. The hotel-style building complex is simple and elegant, unique, and meets the needs of the Lausanne Hotel Management School for "immersive education experience". The college adheres to the founding mission of “being a leader in helping students realize their dreams, a supplier of outstanding talents for enterprises, and an advocate of excellent service culture for society”. Guided by the development of China’s modern service industry and the needs of Hainan’s free trade port construction, the college fully draws on the century-old successful teaching model of Lausanne, Switzerland, deepens education and teaching reforms, forms the Chinese characteristics of the Lausanne model, and actively builds a “one body and two wings” school-running pattern with academic education as the basic platform and high-end training and international education developing simultaneously, forming a professional cluster with distinctive characteristics and high-level education, constantly improving social service capabilities, enhancing school-running strength, and cultivating students to become innovative pan-service industry high-end talents with both moral integrity and skills, international vision and competitiveness, and making unique contributions to serving the construction of Hainan’s free trade port, talent training in the pan-service industry, and vocational education reform, and finally building an applied university with “distinctive characteristics, first-class in Asia, trusted by the government, and loved by teachers and students”. The college adheres to the school motto of "unity of knowledge and action, learning for practical use", practices the Sino-Swiss spirit of "respect, professionalism and responsibility", and closely focuses on the pan-service industry talent needs urgently needed for the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port and "three zones and one center". It has opened more than 20 majors in three major groups of hotel management, tourism management, and economics and management to cultivate high-end pan-service industry talents that meet the urgent needs of the construction and development of Hainan Free Trade Port. At present, there are more than 11,000 students in the college, and the average employment rate of graduates in the past four classes is 95%. The college adheres to the school-running philosophy of "learning from Lausanne and integrating into the industry", and has established 17 on-campus practical teaching points such as hotel management, Western food technology, and flight attendants, and 11 on-campus training rooms; it has built 4 on-campus and off-campus practical teaching bases such as Luhu Hotel, implemented a unique application-oriented talent training model of "front store and back school", and constructed a distinctive "teaching and operation integration" practical teaching system, and established a stable school-enterprise cooperation relationship with 120 hotels and pan-service enterprises, building a good platform for students' internships and employment. According to the requirements of the Lausanne teaching model for the teaching staff, the college employs middle and senior managers with rich management experience from first-class enterprises in the industry, and enriches the teaching staff with craftsmen and talents with rich practical experience and practical ability. At the same time, by organizing "QLF" training, selecting key teachers to study in Lausanne, Switzerland, and forming a "QLF Ambassador" team on campus, a dual-qualified teaching staff that meets the Lausanne teaching standards is created. At present, about 43.5% of the full-time teachers have work experience in the hotel industry, more than 25% of teachers have study and work experience abroad, and 60% have intermediate and above professional titles and intermediate and above professional qualifications. There are 26 high-level talents in Hainan Province (including 2 flexible talents). On the basis of cooperation with the Swiss Lausanne Hotel Management School, the college carries out multi-level, wide-ranging and all-round educational exchanges and cooperation to achieve the internationalization of educational resources, internationalization of talent training, and internationalization of students' source countries. Foreign exchanges have established cooperative relations with colleges and universities in Switzerland, the United States, the United Kingdom, Malaysia, Thailand and other countries to provide students with opportunities for short-term visiting studies, exchange semesters or academic years, and overseas studies. In order to promote the construction of the International Education Innovation Island, the college focuses on recruiting international students from the "Belt and Road" countries to attend the school for academic education and Chinese language training. At present, a total of 297 Chinese language training students and 18 academic students from 16 countries including Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan have been enrolled. Since its establishment, the college has insisted on serving the Hainan Free Trade Port and the construction goals of "three zones and one center", continuously strengthening the responsibility of central enterprises in running schools, actively serving the development of Hainan's tourism and hotel industry, and solving the hotel industry's demand for high-quality talents. In accordance with the requirements of Hainan Province's "busy work and off-season learning" tourism talent training project, and based on the professional characteristics of tourism industry practitioners, the college relies on the brand advantages and teaching resources of Lausanne, Switzerland, and actively carries out the academic improvement and training of hotel practitioners, and innovates the "send education into the enterprise" talent training model, focusing on improving the academic level, skill level and professional quality of hotel industry talents, and establishing a high-end application-oriented talent training brand in the industry. At the same time, complete the application of a third-party evaluation agency for vocational skill level certification to promote the construction of a standardized system for vocational skill training. The college is the vice chairman unit of the China "Tourism, Hotel, and Catering" Innovation Education Alliance, the vice chairman unit of the Sanya Tourism and Hotel Industry Association, the vice chairman unit of the Hainan Hotel and Catering Industry Association, and the vice chairman unit of the Hainan Higher Vocational and Technical College Research Association. The college actively cooperates with government agencies, the Sanya Federation of Academicians, industry associations, and universities such as Tianjin University and Dalian Maritime University to jointly build the "Hainan Cultural Tourism and Health Care Research Institute", "Hainan Cruise Law and Development Research Institute", "Academician Lecture Hall", "Hainan Primary and Secondary School Students' Study Tour Practice Education Base", "Hainan Sino-Swiss Meituan Digital Tourism Research Institute", "Sanya Tourism and Hotel Industry Talent Innovation Training Platform", "Sanya Veterans Employment and Entrepreneurship Training Base" and other scientific research and talent training platforms to serve the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port. As of December 2023, the college's teachers and students have won more than 200 provincial and above awards, including more than 50 provincial first prizes and above (including national level). The college has won the honorary title of "Annual International Hotel Industry School-Enterprise Cooperation Advanced Unit" awarded by the China International Hotel Association for two consecutive years (2018 and 2019); and won the "2020 Hotel Industry Influential Vocational Education Benchmark/Demonstration College" awarded by the Organizing Committee of the China International Hotel Conference; for five consecutive years, the college has ranked in the top three in the national vocational college satisfaction rankings on the "Sunshine College Entrance Examination" platform of the Ministry of Education's College Admissions Sunshine Project.
