Hebei Energy Vocational and Technical College is located in the administrative center of Tangshan City, Hebei Province, one of the birthplaces of modern industry in China and known as the "cradle of modern industry in China". It has a superior geographical location, convenient transportation, good learning conditions and employment environment. The college is organized and managed by the century-old enterprise Kailuan Group Co., Ltd., relying on the enterprise to run schools, with a long history of running schools and a profound foundation of vocational education. Kailuan's vocational and technical education can be traced back to the mining and coal quality testing school held by Kaiping Mining Co., Ltd. in 1881. It is one of the sources of vocational education in China. Later, it went through important development periods such as Shanhaiguan Beiyang Railway Official School, Road and Mining School, Mining School, Kailuan Engineering Training Institute, and Advanced Nursing Vocational School. The above-mentioned school entities have also become the predecessors of many current domestic colleges and universities. In October 1952, Kailuan Coal Mine Drilling School was established, which is the predecessor of Kailuan Coal Mine Technical School and Kailuan Coal School. At the end of 1971, Kailuan Coal Mine planned to build Kailuan University, and Kailuan University was officially established in May 1972. In October 1980, Kailuan University was approved by the provincial government and registered with the Ministry of Education in August 1982. It was renamed Kailuan Mining Bureau Staff University and became a staff college recruiting students from the coal system nationwide. In 1986, Kailuan Mining Bureau Staff University was transferred to the Ministry of Coal, and in 1999, it began to recruit students for higher vocational education on a trial basis. In July 2000, Kailuan Mining Bureau Staff University was approved by the Hebei Provincial People's Government to be rebuilt into Hebei Energy Vocational and Technical College, becoming the first batch of restructured and listed higher vocational and technical colleges in Hebei Province. In the course of running schools for many years, the college has always adhered to the party's education policy, inherited the century-old style of study, dedicated to the energy industry, cared about the world and the motherland, and gradually formed the excellent school spirit of "rigorous, friendly, honest, and disciplined" and the college spirit of "moral and technical cultivation, unity of knowledge and practice, excellence, and perfection", and cast the school motto of "diligent study, moral cultivation, fine art, and innovation". The college integrates multiple levels of education such as higher vocational education, secondary vocational education, adult continuing education, safety technology training, and job training. The college covers an area of 280,000 square meters and a construction area of 186,900 square meters, of which the school building area is 140,000 square meters. The college library covers an area of 8,200 square meters and has a collection of 300,000 books and materials. Hebei Energy Vocational and Technical College is a higher vocational college featuring energy, mining and new energy. The enrollment majors cover the main pillar industries and characteristic industries in Tangshan and the Bohai Rim region, such as energy, equipment manufacturing, information services, and business services. There are four provincial demonstration and backbone majors, namely "Coal Mining Technology", "Electrical Automation Technology", Accounting, and Digital Media Application Technology, and two central government-supported majors, "Engineering Surveying Technology" and "Electrical Automation Technology".
