Gansu Industrial Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general college directly under the Gansu Provincial Department of Education. It is one of the earliest higher vocational colleges in Gansu Province. The college was formerly the Tianshui Geological School founded in 1979. It was renamed the Northwest Industrial School in 1992. In 2001, it was approved by the Gansu Provincial College Establishment Evaluation Committee and the Gansu Provincial People's Government to establish the Gansu Industrial Vocational and Technical College on the basis of the Northwest Industrial School. Over the past 40 years since its establishment, generations of people in the Institute have taken root in Longyuan, worked hard, and made selfless contributions, nurturing and inheriting the unique nuclear industry and military spirit. Adhering to the school motto of "respecting morality, mastering skills, enjoying work and cultivating oneself", they have written a glorious chapter in serving the local economic and social development with sweat and wisdom. The school is located in Tianshui City, Gansu Province, the hometown of Emperor Xi, covering an area of 325 acres and a total campus building area of 225,000 square meters. It is a national high-quality higher vocational college, a typical experience college of the top 50 national innovation and entrepreneurship, a national vocational college industry-education integration college, a "double high plan" construction unit in Gansu Province (A file), the second batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Education "1+X" certificate system pilot college, the national national defense education characteristic school, the national fire safety education demonstration school, the first batch of national defense science and technology industry higher vocational education training base, the China Association for Science and Technology "Haizhi Plan" Gansu work base, provincial civilized unit, Gansu civilized campus, Gansu model workers' home, Gansu graduate employment advanced unit, Gansu Province Deepening Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Reform Demonstration University, etc. At the same time, the school is also a governing unit of the China Higher Vocational Education Society, a governing unit of the China Nuclear Industry, a governing unit of the Vocational Education Branch of the China Electronic Education Society, and a governing unit of the Tourism Education Branch of the China Tourism Association. The professional settings are based on the regional industrial layout, covering 48 enrollment majors in 13 major professional categories such as resources and environment, civil engineering, biochemical engineering, electronic information, equipment manufacturing, finance and trade, tourism, culture and art, forming a pattern of coordinated development of majors in economics, management, literature and art with engineering as the main discipline. The school has 2 national key majors, 2 national productive internship bases, 1 national collaborative innovation center, 4 provincial key majors, 4 provincial characteristic majors, 3 provincial "curriculum ideological and political" demonstration majors, 1 provincial intangible cultural heritage base, 2 provincial collaborative innovation centers, and took the lead in establishing 2 provincial vocational education groups such as the Gansu National Defense Science and Technology Industry Vocational Education Group and the Home Service and Elderly Care Vocational Education Group, and the Tianshui Tourism Vocational Education Group. The school currently has 453 faculty members, including 28 professors, 99 associate professors, 124 teachers with master's degrees or above, and more than 140 "double-qualified" teachers. In recent years, it has won more than 30 prefecture-level science and technology achievement awards, published 1,837 academic papers in core, authoritative and provincial and ministerial journals, obtained 237 national patents, and published more than 180 textbooks and books. The school currently has more than 10,000 full-time students. The school adheres to the purpose of service and employment-oriented, and builds a talent-cultivating mechanism of moral education, moral and technical training, work-study integration, and knowledge-practice integration. In recent years, more than 200 students have won awards in national and provincial skill competitions. The school has established a nationwide graduate employment network and established long-term and stable employment cooperation relationships with more than 200 large and medium-sized enterprises and institutions in China. Since its establishment, it has trained nearly 70,000 qualified skilled talents. The employment rate of graduates has remained at the forefront of the province all year round, and the satisfaction rate of employers is high. At the same time, the school integrates adult education, short-term training and skill training and appraisal. It has professional qualification training and examination certification institutions such as the National Vocational Skills Appraisal Station, Longyuan Craftsman Training Base, Gansu Province Mandarin Testing Station, and "1+X" Certificate Examination Center.
