Jincheng Vocational and Technical College (hereinafter referred to as "the College") was officially established on May 17, 2001 with the approval of the Provincial Government and the filing of the Ministry of Education. It is a full-time comprehensive higher vocational college formed by the merger of the former Jincheng Education College, Jincheng Normal School, Jincheng Secondary Vocational School, and Jincheng Culture and Art School. It is also the only public full-time higher vocational college in Jincheng. The college has always adhered to the school motto of "Sincerity, Wisdom and Joy", and practiced the "Five for" school-running philosophy of "being upright, learning, being diligent, being artistic, and being beautiful and harmonious", and has trained a large number of high-quality technical and skilled talents for the local and surrounding areas. In 2017, it won the title of Jincheng Civilized Unit Model and Civilized Campus. In 2018, it was established as a "Shanxi Province High-quality Higher Vocational College Construction Unit" and a "Provincial Modern Apprenticeship Pilot Unit". In 2019, it successfully applied for the Shanxi Traditional Culture and Art Base. In 2020, it was successively identified as a provincial "civilized campus" and the third batch of national "national defense education characteristic schools". In 2022, it was rated as a provincial "water-saving" university. It ranked 7th in the province in the "Jinpingguo" 2023 China Vocational College Competitiveness Ranking. The current campus of the college covers an area of nearly 274 acres and a building area of 154,000 square meters; the new campus of Danhe New City, which covers an area of 438 acres and a building area of 195,000 square meters (excluding shared functional rooms such as libraries, school-level office rooms, indoor sports rooms, and student activity rooms), will be put into use at the end of 2023. There are 516 faculty and staff, including 457 full-time staff and 59 contract staff. There are 360 full-time teachers, including 9 with doctoral degrees and 289 with master's degrees; 131 teachers with senior professional titles, including 3 full professors; 13 famous teachers of various types at or above the provincial level. There are 2 top backbone talents in the "Sanjin Talents" support plan, 2 young outstanding talents in the "Sanjin Talents" support plan, 1 academic and technical leader in Shanxi Province, 1 Shanxi technical expert, 7 provincial "dual-qualified" excellent teachers, 1 provincial "dual-qualified" teaching master, 1 provincial model of teacher ethics, and 3 municipal master studios have been approved. 3 teachers were selected as members of the National Industry Vocational Education Teaching Steering Committee, and 15 teachers were selected as members of the Shanxi Vocational Education Professional Teaching Steering Committee and the Expert Advisory Committee. The college has a total of 10 departments, 35 college majors, and more than 9,000 full-time students. There are 3 provincial backbone majors, 3 provincial characteristic majors, 2 provincial brand majors, 3 provincial key majors, 1 high-level major, 1 state-controlled major, and the national 1+X certificate system pilot has been extended to all majors. There are 3 provincial high-level training bases and 5 provincial training bases. In recent years, the college has continuously optimized its professional layout around the needs of Jincheng's industrial transformation and upgrading, and has successfully applied for majors such as optoelectronic manufacturing and application technology, big data application technology, preschool education, nursing and character image design. While meeting the needs of local economic transformation and upgrading for technical and skilled talents, it has also promoted the development of the college itself. In recent years, the college has been based on regional economic and social development, giving full play to its resource advantages and improving its social service capabilities. It took the lead in establishing high-level talent associations such as the Municipal Female Professors Association, the Municipal Doctoral Association, and the Municipal University Science and Technology Association to build a talent exchange platform; it took the lead in establishing the Municipal Tourism Vocational Education Group and the Municipal Optoelectronics Vocational Education Group to promote the "government, school, industry, and enterprise" four-party linkage, presenting a good situation of "double subject" education and "win-win" between schools and enterprises; exploring a diversified school-running pattern, it has successively co-built two industrial colleges, Shanxi Cultural Tourism Industry College and Shanxi Gaoping Electromechanical Industry College, with local governments and leading industry enterprises to enhance its ability to serve local development.
