The predecessor of Huaibei Institute of Technology was the School of Information of Huaibei Normal University, which was founded in 2003. In 2021, it was independently established as a full-time general undergraduate school with the approval of the Ministry of Education. The school is located in Huaibei City, Anhui Province, a national civilized city, a national garden city, and a national energy base. The campus is located at No. 8 Qingnian Road, Duji District, Huaibei City. It is adjacent to Longshan Road in the east and Dongshan Road in the west. It is close to the North Bus Passenger Transport Station, 3 kilometers away from the Huaibei North Station of the high-speed railway and 10 kilometers away from the Huaibei Toll Station of the Lianhuo Expressway. The transportation is very convenient. The campus environment is beautiful and the scenery is pleasant. It is an ideal place for students to study, study, and cultivate their character. The school covers an area of 1,003.51 acres and has a planned construction area of about 780,000 square meters. At present, 210,000 square meters of school buildings, including teaching buildings, art buildings, gymnasiums, canteens, dormitories, and training buildings have been built. The school adheres to the party's education policy and fully implements the fundamental task of cultivating people with morality; adheres to the demand for talents based on the economic growth and social progress of Huaibei City and Anhui Province, fully integrates into the Yangtze River Delta, strengthens the integration of production and education, and innovates the training model of applied undergraduate talents; adheres to the school motto of "exhausting reason, practicing, fine work, and practicing", and strives to create a discipline and professional layout with engineering as the main subject, and coordinated development of literature, economics, management, and education, focusing on the deployment and strengthening of engineering majors. The school has teaching units such as the School of Marxism, the School of Economics, Management and Architectural Engineering, the School of Education, the School of Electronics and Information Engineering, the School of Biology and Chemical Engineering, and the General Education Center. It has 26 undergraduate majors, including electronic information engineering, communication engineering, mechanical design and manufacturing and automation, inorganic non-metallic materials engineering, automation, computer science and technology, civil engineering, mathematics and applied mathematics, engineering management and other distinctive engineering, science, and management majors. The school currently has 282 full-time teachers and 75 teachers with senior professional titles. In order to strengthen the professional construction that meets the needs of the "five groups and ten chains" industry in Huaibei City, the school will continue to increase the efforts to introduce talents, focusing on introducing a group of leaders in science and engineering majors, technical backbones and management backbones of industry enterprises, and strive to build a more sufficient number, more reasonable structure, and better quality of high-level teaching staff. The school strengthens the construction of key disciplines. The communication engineering major is a provincial first-class major, and the majors of electronic information engineering and e-commerce are provincial characteristic majors. Human resources management and economics majors are provincial reform pilot majors, and logistics management majors are provincial first-class brand majors. Strengthening talent training, in the past five years, more than 200 students have won awards in various national and provincial innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, and more than 500 students have won awards in various disciplines competitions at the provincial level and above. The rate of students taking postgraduate entrance examinations remains above 10%. Looking to the future, the school will seize the opportunities of the reform and development of private higher education, increase investment, improve quality, and take "accelerating the construction of a high-level applied university" as the goal, and strive to build the school into an applied private general undergraduate university with appropriate scale, relatively complete school conditions, excellent team, high quality of talent training, coordinated development of various disciplines with engineering as the main discipline, certain characteristics of applied technology research and development, and good social reputation.
