Hunan Vocational College for Nationalities is located on the shore of the beautiful Dongting Lake, near the world-famous Yueyang Tower. It is a typical ecological, park-type, and ethnic school. The school was formerly the Zhenxin Girls' School founded by American missionaries Heavily and his wife in 1901. In 1952, it was renamed Yueyang Normal School, which was once one of the top 100 normal schools in the country. In 2003, Yueyang Normal School was independently upgraded to a full-time public higher vocational college. The school covers an area of more than 800 acres, with a building area of nearly 200,000 square meters and assets of nearly 700 million. There are more than 900 faculty and staff, including more than 130 full and associate professors, more than 200 master's students, and more than 200 "double-qualified" teachers. There are preschool education colleges, art and design colleges, primary education colleges, educational technology colleges, intelligent communication colleges, business and tourism colleges, basic education colleges, international education colleges, innovation and entrepreneurship colleges, adult education colleges, and social training colleges. There are 26 majors in preschool education, primary education, early education, art design, fashion design, tourism management, aviation services, business English, Internet of Things engineering, mobile application development, communication technology, etc. Among them, the three professional groups of primary education, preschool education, and educational culture and creativity have been approved by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education as provincial first-class characteristic professional groups for key construction. The two professional groups of preschool education and art design have been approved by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education as Hunan Province's "Chu Yi" high-level vocational professional groups (A-level) for key construction. The school is the leading unit and chairman unit of the Hunan Early Education Alliance, the Hunan Smart Education Alliance, and the Hunan Primary Education Alliance. The school currently has more than 15,000 students of all ethnic groups.
