The predecessor of the school was Bazhong Normal School founded in 1954, Tongjiang Secondary Vocational Health School established in 1958 and Bazhong Technical School established in 1990. In February 2013, it was approved to establish Bazhong Vocational and Technical College. It is the only full-time higher education institution in Bazhong, an old revolutionary base. The school covers an area of about 550 acres, with a total investment of more than 1.4 billion yuan and a total construction area of 181,200 square meters. The school has a strong faculty, with 389 full-time teachers and 214 part-time teachers outside the school. Senior titles account for 25%, master and doctoral students account for 35.7%, and dual-qualified teachers account for 41.9%. The school has established a "young teacher innovation teaching team" represented by young doctors and professors, an "overseas teaching team" represented by overseas high-end talents, and a "practical teaching team" represented by senior executives and senior technical personnel of enterprises and institutions. The modern library has a collection of more than 900,000 books and more than 8,000 newspapers and periodicals. The school has realized a one-card management service, a one-stop video surveillance, and full education and teaching connectivity. There are currently 124 on-campus laboratories, 8 training bases and centers, more than 100 off-campus training bases, and teaching and research equipment with a total value of more than 60 million yuan. The school implements two-level management of school and college, and has five secondary colleges (School of Education, School of Medicine, School of Science, Engineering and Economics, School of Marxism, and Secondary Vocational College). The school offers 33 general higher vocational majors and currently has 9,425 higher vocational students. The school has established a diversified development model for improving academic education, and has worked closely with undergraduate colleges such as Xihua University, China West Normal University, Southwest Medical University, Sichuan University of Arts and Sciences, Chengdu Medical College, and Neijiang Normal University to build a platform for students to upgrade from junior college to undergraduate. The school has reached a joint school-running agreement with well-known European universities such as Teesside University, Gloucester University, Chester University, Gunma University in Japan, Gunsan University in South Korea, Kluk University in Thailand, and Inti University in Malaysia.
