Jilin Industrial Vocational and Technical College is located in the beautiful "Northern River City" - Jilin City, Jilin Province. It is the only independent higher vocational college in Jilin Province with petroleum and chemical industry as its characteristics. The school was founded in Changchun City, Jilin Province in October 1950. It was named Jilin Industrial College at that time. It was the first industrial school established in Jilin Province after the founding of the People's Republic of China. In 1954, in order to serve the needs of the country's "First Five-Year Plan" construction, the school moved to Jilin City. With the pace of the advancement of New China, the school has always insisted on independent development and has been renamed Jilin Food Industry School, Jilin Chemical College, Jilin Petrochemical School, and Jilin Chemical School. In January 2002, it was upgraded to a general higher vocational college and renamed Jilin Industrial Vocational and Technical College. It is sponsored by the People's Government of Jilin Province and supervised by the Jilin Provincial Department of Education. The school currently has campuses such as Hengshan West Road, Yishan Road, and Jihua East Road. The current building area is 126,600 square meters. The planned new campus has a building area of 251,000 square meters, which will be completed and put into use in March 2024. The total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is 214 million yuan, and the library has 1.07 million books. The school currently has 9,845 full-time higher vocational students, 252 secondary vocational students, and 1,236 higher vocational students, totaling 11,333 people. There are 403 faculty and staff, 152 senior professional titles, and 157 dual-qualified teachers. There are 8 teaching units: the School of Chemical Engineering, the School of Intelligent Manufacturing, the School of Pharmaceutical Engineering, the School of Information Engineering, the School of Economics, Management and Art, the School of Marxism, the General Education Center, and the Department of Physical Education. The school is a national demonstrative higher vocational college, the third batch of national modern apprenticeship pilot units, the first batch of 1+X certificate system pilot colleges of the Ministry of Education, the first batch of national vocational education teacher teaching innovation team project construction units, the second batch of national demonstrative vocational education group (alliance) cultivation units, the national vocational education demonstration virtual simulation training base cultivation project construction units, and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology "specialized and new" industrial college construction units; Jilin Province Modern Vocational Education Demonstration School Project Construction Unit, Jilin Province Characteristic High-level Vocational College Project Construction Unit. The school has distinctive professional characteristics. Focusing on the industries of petrochemical industry, intelligent manufacturing, medical health, new generation of electronic information technology and modern service industry in Jilin region, 12 professional groups and 49 higher vocational majors are set up, covering 11 major categories of majors. It has 4 national demonstration majors, 2 backbone majors, 1 modern apprenticeship pilot major, 3 provincial brand professional groups, 9 high-level majors (groups) for project construction, 2 provincial demonstration majors, 5 pilot majors, 3 modern apprenticeship pilot majors, 30 1+X certificate pilot majors, and 1 Sino-foreign cooperative education major. It has formed a professional layout with petrochemical as its feature, equipment manufacturing as its main body, and the coordinated development of multiple majors such as electronics and information, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, transportation, finance and trade, culture and art. There are 150 on-campus training bases and 282 off-campus training and internship bases. The school has achieved fruitful teaching results. The school has an Institute of Engineering and Applied Technology and an Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences. In the past three years, it has completed 20 scientific and technological projects of various types and 36 horizontal scientific research projects, won 2 Jilin Province Social Science Outstanding Achievement Awards, obtained 30 authorized patents, and teachers published more than 200 scientific and technological papers.
