Wuhan Maritime Vocational and Technical College is affiliated to China Changjiang Shipping Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Changjiang Shipping Group), a subsidiary of China Merchants Group. It is a higher vocational college approved by the Hubei Provincial Government, registered with the Ministry of Education, and recognized by the State Maritime Safety Administration, mainly engaged in higher vocational education and vocational training. The school was founded in 1955. In 1999, it was approved by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China as one of the first 50 colleges to pilot higher vocational and technical education with "new mechanisms and new models" to carry out general higher education; in the same year, the "China Changjiang International Seafarer Training Center" was established. The school has successively won the "National Skilled Talent Cultivation Outstanding Contribution Award", "National Excellent Demonstration Site for Worker Education and Training", "Advanced Collective of Vocational Education", "Hubei Civilized Unit", "Provincial Model Workers' Home" and other honorary titles. The school conforms to the development trend of industries such as navigation, shipbuilding, logistics, and high-end tourism, and adjusts and sets majors around the main business development of China Merchants Group and Changjiang Shipping Group. At present, the school offers 15 majors, including navigation technology, engine engineering technology, ship engineering technology, new energy vehicle technology, tourism management, international cruise management, high-speed railway passenger service, port and shipping management, civil aviation transportation service, digital media technology, etc. There are 21 on-campus professional laboratories, including large ship operation simulator laboratory, engine simulator laboratory, GPS laboratory, shipping logistics laboratory, radar simulation laboratory, cruise bar laboratory, electrical, electronic technology and measurement laboratory, automobile engineering laboratory, information engineering laboratory, etc., and more than 10 off-campus training bases. Among them, three majors, including engine engineering technology, port and shipping management, and ship engineering technology, are majors that are supported by the central government. Engine engineering technology and navigation technology are provincial pilot reform majors. Many courses such as "Navigation", "Basics of Maritime Hotels" and "Guide Business" are provincial boutique courses. The Navigation Technology Laboratory is a key construction laboratory for higher vocational colleges. The vocational training carried out by the school is mainly crew training, and the training categories include two categories: certificate of competency and professional training. The main training items include: basic safety of seafarers, third mate, third engineer, duty sailor, duty mechanic, GMDSS general operator, proficient in lifeboats and rescue boats, advanced firefighting, proficient in first aid, security awareness, crew with designated security responsibilities, ship security officers, etc. Relying on the industrial chain of Changhang Group, the school has maintained a long-term, good and stable cooperative relationship with the company's subordinate units and many shipping companies, shipyards, star-rated hotels, etc., and has become a base for students' long-term practice and internship. The school has more than 1,000 sets of domestic first-class large-scale ship handling simulators, GMDSS simulators and other experimental instruments and equipment, which is the basic platform for students to "learn skills and practice". The school strictly abides by the talent training requirements of the Ministry of Education of China and the quality policy and management system determined by the International Maritime Convention. It always incorporates teaching, management, and services into the international quality certification system, conducts an internal quality audit every year, accepts an intermediate audit by the State Maritime Administration every two years, and accepts an effective review by the State Maritime Administration every four years. The school implements semi-military management for its maritime majors, strengthens teaching supervision, and forms a good school discipline, teaching style, learning style, and examination style. The school implements the "modern apprenticeship system" training model, adjusts professional talent training programs according to the actual needs of industries and enterprises, and currently has multiple order classes for China Merchants Nanyou, COSCO Shipping, Beijing Huayang, etc. in navigation technology and marine engineering technology. Majors such as digital media technology, intelligent logistics technology, and international cruise ship management have achieved "employment upon admission" and "apprenticeship training", and have initially achieved the goal of integrating student teaching, internships, and employment. The college adheres to the school-running philosophy of employment first, ability-based, and enriching the people. The employment rate of graduates has remained at a high level, and has been above 90% in the past five years. The school holds various large, medium, and small "graduate employment supply and demand meetings" on campus every year, and each qualified graduate has multiple opportunities to select employers. Graduates are employed globally and have high economic incomes. At present, many units such as China Merchants Group's subsidiaries, Yangtze River Shipping Overseas Travel Company, China Ocean Shipping Group and its branches, China Shandong and Tianjin International Economic and Technical Cooperation Company, China Ocean Aviation Group, Singapore Star Luxury Cruise Company and international shipping companies in coastal and river provinces have become the main employment units for students. The school campus life is colorful, and the student club activities are colorful. Various student clubs such as English Club, Guitar Club, Hanfu Club, Dance Club, Basketball Club, Skateboard Club, Zhiwu Taekwondo Club, Badminton Club, Military Enthusiasts Association, Youth Volunteer Association, etc. have been established. Involving five major categories such as English, literature, art, sports, and social services, various lectures such as "Winning on Campus", IT, English, and Mental Health are widely carried out. The school has a very strong humanistic atmosphere, and the comprehensive quality of students has been greatly improved. After nearly 70 years of ups and downs, 70 years of tempering, and 70 years of passing on the torch, the people of the Aviation College have never forgotten their original aspirations and insisted on "being based on New Changhang, facing China Merchants Group, serving the main business, and promoting employment" as the school's purpose, and strived to build the school into a production-education integration higher vocational college with high corporate and social satisfaction, distinctive characteristics, and national reputation.
