Hunan Nonferrous Metals Vocational and Technical College was established in March 2011. It is a full-time general college organized by the People's Government of Hunan Province and supervised by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education. It is a "China Nonferrous Metals Industry High-skilled Talent Training Base", "National Workers' Vocational Skills Training Base", "Leading Unit of Central South Nonferrous Metals Vocational Education Group", and "Hunan Civilized College". The college is located in Zhuzhou (Hunan) Vocational Education City, the core area of Changsha-Zhuzhou-Tanzhou Integration City, with obvious location advantages and convenient transportation. The college covers an area of more than 300 acres, with a total investment of 600 million yuan and a total construction area of 220,000 square meters. There are 65 teaching laboratories, and the total value of experimental training equipment is about 40 million yuan. More than 40 off-campus training bases have been established with large and medium-sized enterprises in and outside the province, such as China Aluminum, Jiangxi Copper, and 23rd Metallurgical Construction Group, covering all majors of the college. The college has standard track and field, basketball courts and other sports facilities. The college currently has more than 400 faculty members, 63 of whom have senior professional and technical titles, and more than 40% of them are "dual-qualified" teachers. There is one second-level professor, two experts enjoying special allowances from the State Council, one national talent in the New Century Hundred Thousand Talents Project, and two provincial leading talents. In recent years, college teachers have won one second prize for national scientific and technological achievements, one second prize for national teaching achievements, one first prize for provincial scientific and technological achievements, three provincial teaching achievement awards, and more than 30 awards for provincial and above teaching competitions. The college has a total of 166 scientific research projects at all levels and of all types, including 51 projects at the provincial level and above. "Research on Preparation Technology of High-end Sapphire Polishing Materials" won the "Five 100" major product innovation project in Hunan Province; "Construction and Practice of a New Model for the Cultivation of Technical and Skilled Talents in Modern Manufacturing Schools and Enterprises with "Transnational Collaboration and Win-win"" won the second prize of national teaching achievements in vocational education in 2018. The college adheres to the principle of cultivating people with moral integrity, upholds the school-running philosophy of "being virtuous and diligent in learning, adhering to skills and dedication", and follows the school-running idea of "stabilizing scale, adjusting structure, strengthening characteristics, and improving connotation", and strives to cultivate technical and skilled talents for the new non-ferrous industry. The college has 7 teaching departments, including the School of Marxism, the Department of Resources and Environment (Mining Branch of Sino-Zambian Vocational and Technical College), the Department of Metallurgical Materials, the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Architectural Engineering, the Department of Economic Management, and the Department of Public Courses. A total of 20 majors are offered, including mineral processing technology, environmental engineering technology, metal materials and heat treatment technology, energy storage material technology, Internet of Things application technology, engineering cost, and architectural decoration engineering technology. There are 5 professional groups, including resource and environmental technology, material engineering technology, construction technology, intelligent manufacturing technology, and financial services. Among them, material engineering technology is a provincial first-class specialty group cultivation project. The college currently has more than 8,900 students. In recent years, students have won 5 national awards and 50 provincial awards in skill competitions. The college has signed the "School-Enterprise Cooperation Agreement" and "Letter of Intent for Entrusted Training of High-skilled Talents" with more than 200 enterprises and institutions. The employment rate of graduates has exceeded 90% for five consecutive years. In the past three years, the average employer satisfaction of graduates has been 97.06%, and the average satisfaction of their alma mater has been 97.43%. It has been rated as "Provincial Advanced College for Enrollment and Employment". In October 2013, the college took the lead in establishing the Central South Nonferrous Metals Vocational Education Group, which brought together more than 100 well-known domestic enterprises such as China Aluminum, Jiangxi Copper, Hunan Nonferrous Holdings, 23rd Metallurgical Construction Group, Shenzhen Zhongjin Lingnan, Daye Nonferrous Group, Jinchuan Group, etc. as constituent units, and continued to deepen the talent training model of "industry-education integration, school-enterprise cooperation". The college actively implements the "going out" strategy and has established cooperative relations with relevant universities and enterprises in Germany and South Korea. In 2016, the college became one of the first eight pilot colleges for vocational education to "go out" approved by the Ministry of Education. The "Metal and Non-metal Mineral Mining Technology Professional Teaching Standards" formulated by the college were approved as the official professional standards of Zambia's vocational education, filling the gap in Zambia's national teaching standards. In August 2019, the China-Zambia Vocational and Technical College of Mining Engineering and the Zambia Branch of Hunan Nonferrous Metals Vocational and Technical College were officially unveiled. The college undertakes the education and teaching work of the China-Zambia Vocational and Technical College of Mining Engineering. China-Zambia Vocational and Technical College is the first higher vocational and technical college independently established overseas to carry out academic education in cooperation with enterprises in my country's higher vocational colleges to "go global". Its establishment has opened a new stage in the international development of China's modern vocational education.
