Luoding Vocational and Technical College is a public full-time general higher vocational college established in May 2001 on the basis of Luoding Normal School. Its predecessor was Luoding County Women's Rural Normal School founded in 1928. The school has established a national vocational skills appraisal institute and a doctoral workstation in Guangdong Province. It has established a talent training base for cloud computing and big data in Yunfu City, a Yunfu Electronic Information Industry Technology Service Center, a Yunfu Automation Equipment Engineering Technology Research Center, and a Yunfu Nanjiang Cultural Research Center. It has established a school science and technology association, a social science association, and a Red Cross Society. It is a youth entrepreneurship and employment internship base of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, a "green school" in Guangdong Province, a "national defense education specialty school" in Guangdong Province, a "chess specialty school" in Guangdong Province, a training base for general teachers in rural primary schools in Guangdong Province, an advanced unit for language and writing work in Guangdong Province, an advanced unit for conscription work in Guangdong Province, a demonstration base for the popularization of social sciences in Guangdong Province, a demonstration base for the training of small and medium-sized enterprises in Guangdong Province, a civilized unit in Yunfu City, and a popular science base in Yunfu City. The school consists of eight teaching units, including the School of Marxism, the School of Community Education, the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Economics and Management, the Department of Education, the Department of Foreign Languages, and the Department of Art and Sports. It offers 41 majors in eight major occupational categories, including equipment manufacturing, electronics and information, education and sports, finance and trade, energy and power and materials, food, medicine and grain, transportation, and tourism. It has two central financial support service industry majors, three productive training centers recognized by the Ministry of Education, two provincial key majors, two provincial high-level professional groups, six provincial public training centers, 12 teaching practice bases at or above the provincial level, four provincial-level high-quality resource sharing and open courses, and six “1+X” certificate system pilot projects. It has established a “three-two segmented junior college to undergraduate collaborative education pilot project” with Lingnan Normal University, Guangdong Technology and Business University, and Guangzhou Institute of Technology. The school has jointly opened a self-study (correspondence) communication class for upgrading from junior college to undergraduate with South China University of Technology, South China Normal University, Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, Guangdong Technical Normal University, etc. Students can take concurrent courses while studying at school, and can obtain the undergraduate diploma of the selected school by completing the required credits as required. Since its establishment, the school has vigorously promoted the school motto culture of "honesty, diligence, and exploration", actively spread the school spirit of "respecting morality and kindness, and learning from the virtuous", and fully implemented the teaching style of "learning high as a teacher and being upright as a model", and strived to advocate the style of study of "pursuing excellence and striving for excellence", following the laws of higher vocational education, insisting on moral education, and continuously deepening school-enterprise cooperation and integration of production and education, vigorously implementing precise docking and precise education of schools and enterprises, and establishing friendly cooperative relations with enterprises and institutions in Yunfu, Foshan, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen and other places, and cultivating a large number of innovative technical and skilled talents, and has successively sent more than 40,000 graduates to the society. The employment status of graduates is good, and the overall employment rate exceeds 98%.
