Founded in 2016, Gannan Vocational College of Health and Medical Sciences is a full-time public general higher vocational college directly managed by the Ganzhou Municipal Government. It is also the only medical higher vocational college in Gannan. The college integrates the "six departments and three divisions" teaching institutions with the school's affiliated hospitals, Rongjiang New District University Park Service Center and other health service institutions. It is located in Ganzhou, a historical and cultural city known as "the Holy Land of the Red Capital, the Cradle of Hakka, the Song City of Jiangnan, and the World Tungsten Capital". Over the years, it has made outstanding contributions to the development of medical and health care in Gannan and surrounding provinces and cities. The college highlights the characteristics of "mountains, waters, apricot forests, and humanistic campuses" and is known as "the school of thousands of camphor trees and the garden of thousands of osmanthus trees". It covers an area of more than 840 acres and a construction area of 240,000 square meters. The library currently has a collection of 557,000 books, and has various educational and teaching training facilities and equipment to meet the needs of 10,000-scale training, as well as more than 160 off-campus internship bases. The college originated from the Red Army Medical School 90 years ago. It was founded on the Ganzhou Regional Health School established in 1975. In 2016, Gannan Health Vocational College was newly established on the basis of Ganzhou Health School, and it was run as a "one site, two schools" school with Ganzhou Health School. School-running ideas The college pioneered and established schools twice and changed its name ten times. It has been marching forward and passed on the torch in the vicissitudes of life. The school motto of "virtue and excellence" has been honed, and the school spirit of "diligent learning, careful thinking, benevolence, and perseverance" has been nurtured. The original intention of the Red Doctor of the Soviet Area has been inherited and adhered to, forming a school-running tradition of "opening roads when encountering mountains and building bridges when encountering water", and the goal of running a high-quality health and health vocational college in the Jiangxi, Guangdong, Fujian and Hunan regions. Discipline Construction The college offers four major national-controlled majors in medicine and health, namely clinical medicine, stomatology, traditional Chinese medicine, and preventive medicine, as well as 27 higher vocational majors such as nursing and pharmacy. The college has established 11 high-quality online open courses in Jiangxi Province and 2 demonstration courses of ideological and political courses. In 2022, two majors of the college, nursing and Chinese medicine, were selected for the provincial high-level professional group construction project. Starting from 2023, the college will carry out joint training with undergraduate colleges and universities, and start undergraduate education in three majors: nursing, pharmacy, and rehabilitation therapy. The College of Talent Cultivation currently has more than 11,900 full-time higher vocational students and 440 undergraduates. Since 2018, teachers have won 2 first prizes, 9 second prizes, and 11 third prizes in the provincial teaching ability competition; students have won 7 first prizes, 14 second prizes, 14 third prizes, and 1 special prize in the national skills competition, 12 first prizes, 33 second prizes, 26 third prizes, and 1 special prize in the provincial competition; won 2 national awards and 13 provincial awards in the "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. In 2023, a counterpart cooperation framework agreement was signed with Shenzhen Vocational and Technical College. The college is the vice chairman unit of the third committee of the Health Education Professional Committee of the China Vocational and Technical Education Society and the vice chairman unit of the Health Care and Health Education Committee of the China Vocational and Technical Education Society. It has built clinical and traditional Chinese medicine national physician qualification examination practical skills examination bases, and is a national vocational skills appraisal institute and a municipal base for radiation protection training in Jiangxi Province. It has won many provincial and municipal honorary titles such as the "Fourth Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award Excellent School Award", "Jiangxi Civilized Unit", and "Jiangxi Safe Campus". Scientific research Since 2018, the college has made major breakthroughs in scientific research results. Teachers have published 421 papers, including 14 SCI papers; 180 projects at or above the department level have been approved; teachers have been approved for 37 patents, 1 design, and 1 software copyright; 97 textbooks have been compiled, including 7 textbooks edited. The college's thermal moxibustion laboratory was approved as a municipal key laboratory, and the "Wei" Lai Space Double Innovation Base was recognized as a municipal entrepreneurship incubation base by the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. The college currently has 500 faculty members, including 5 with doctoral degrees, 178 with master's degrees, 108 with associate senior titles or above, and 206 "dual-qualified" teachers in secondary and higher vocational schools. The school actively serves the local economic and social development, explores the school-running model of "industry-education integration, school-enterprise cooperation", and deeply promotes the reform of talent training model. It took the lead in establishing the Ganzhou Health Vocational Education Group, and jointly opened 4 nursing sub-professional classes with hospitals; promoted medical and educational collaboration, established a clinical medicine practice teaching base, and implemented the "1.5+0.5+1" talent training model; deepened the school-enterprise cooperation model, and carried out off-campus training bases, innovation and entrepreneurship bases with medical and health units, as well as professional co-construction, order training and directional training. Cooperation; relying on the advantages of the "health care" professional group with rehabilitation therapy technology as the core, jointly opened the Gannan Rehabilitation Industry College and Tiantong Health Care Industry College, which effectively promoted the development of the rehabilitation industry in Gannan. The school of social service has always adhered to the original intention of the red doctor of the Soviet spirit, and established a colorful volunteer service light cavalry service team with the content of "propaganda red, nursing white, health care blue, youth green, and volunteer orange", and carried out volunteer service teams with health free clinics, first aid training, dissemination of Chinese herbal medicine knowledge, and promotion of urban health and health concepts, red medical culture, and health knowledge. At present, the college has more than 2,000 volunteer service members, covering 18 counties and cities in southern Jiangxi in the past five years, and benefiting more than one million people.
