Fujian South China Women's Vocational College is located in Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province. Its predecessor can be traced back to the South China Women's University in 1908 (later renamed the Private South China Women's College of Arts and Sciences). It was reopened in November 1984. It is the first private women's college with independent qualifications to issue academic diplomas after the founding of the People's Republic of China. It is a pilot project unit for the reform of the school-running system of non-profit private colleges and universities of the Ministry of Education. The college is located on the scenic eastern foot of Qishan Mountain and is the only private higher vocational college settled in the university town. Since the college was reopened, it has received strong support from the provincial and municipal governments. Xi Jinping, Jia Qinglin, He Guoqiang, Li Lanqing, Chen Muhua, Lei Jieqiong, Chen Mingyi, Wang Yifu and other national and provincial leaders have visited the college to inspect and guide the work. During his work in Fujian, General Secretary Xi Jinping wrote a personal inscription for our college: "Women are as good as men, and there are many female heroes in South China." The college adheres to the school-running philosophy of "education for the cultivation of women's highest personality", follows the school motto of "self-reliance, pioneering, diligence and dedication", insists on survival by quality, development by characteristics, moral education, open schooling, and enhances the adaptability of talent training by "solidifying the foundation, strengthening practice and tempering skills". It has delivered more than 20,000 high-quality innovative technical and skilled talents to the society and made positive contributions to the economic construction and development of Fujian. The college currently covers an area of about 250.72 acres, with two campuses in Qishan and Yantaishan, with a total construction area of more than 100,000 square meters and 334 faculty and staff. The college implements the fundamental task of moral education, attaches importance to the comprehensive development of students' morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor, deepens and promotes education and teaching reforms, explores the construction of a "three-thinking and thick-acting" ideological and political practice education system, and cultivates skilled craftsmen with both moral and technical skills. The college has 28 majors in 6 departments of cultural education, health services, art design, tourism services, international business management, and big data application, with a total of more than 8,500 students. It has provincial key majors, provincial higher vocational education demonstration majors, national quality courses, provincial and ministerial quality courses, provincial teaching achievement awards, provincial innovation and entrepreneurship education reform pilot majors, and Fujian Provincial Department of Education professional construction achievement awards and skill master studios. It has also been identified as a training base for footwear design and technology application, a demonstration base for family service vocational training in Fujian Province, and the third batch of Fujian Provincial Elderly Care Service Talent Training Base. The 2022 "Think Three Times and Do Thickly" ideological and political practice education system project was approved for the establishment of a quality project for ideological and political work in colleges and universities in Fujian Province. The college focuses on giving full play to the advantages of its own traditional majors, incorporating school-enterprise cooperation and industry-education integration into the overall planning framework of regional development, using industrial colleges as a carrier to explore talent training mechanisms, and realizing a school-running model of cooperation and sharing between industry and enterprises. At present, it has built the Rhino Digital Creative Industry College, "Morning Workshop", and "Fuwan Class", and created the second teaching base of the "School-Enterprise Spark Plan". The college insists on opening up to the outside world and continuously expands the college's international reputation and influence. It has established cooperative relations with many universities such as Florida State University, University of Puget Sound, Centenary University, Morningside University, etc., and has carried out high-level exchanges and cooperation in teacher-student exchanges, joint training, and collaborative scientific research. Over the years, the college has always insisted on not taking profit as its purpose, running schools down-to-earth, and educating people seriously. As the most historically significant major event and the most representative construction achievement in China in the past 50 years, it was selected into "The Best of the Republic" and passed the two rounds of talent training evaluation in 2008 and 2015. The college has won the "China Private Education Innovation and Development Contribution Award", "National Advanced Non-Governmental Organization", "National May Fourth Red Flag League Branch", and has been awarded the honorary titles of "Fujian Civilized Campus (School)" and "Fujian Advanced Grassroots Party Organization" for four consecutive terms.
