Jiaxing Nanyang Vocational and Technical College was approved by the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government in 2002 and is a full-time higher vocational and technical college jointly funded by Shanghai Jiaotong University Education (Group) Co., Ltd., Jiaxing Education Development Investment Co., Ltd. and Zhejiang Science and Technology Incubation Development and Construction Co., Ltd. The school is an important achievement of Jiaxing's strategy to connect with Shanghai. The name "Nanyang" comes from the "Nanyang Public School" at the beginning of the establishment of Shanghai Jiaotong University, implying the school's strong determination and confidence to inherit the fine tradition of Shanghai Jiaotong University and actively develop and open up higher vocational education in Zhejiang Province. In July 2016, the school moved from the Tanghui Campus in Jiaxing City to the Dade Road Campus in Xiuzhou District, and the school conditions have achieved a leapfrog development. The school adheres to the school-running philosophy of "people-oriented, service development, facing everyone, and everyone is outstanding", and has trained more than 30,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents for the society. The school currently has 34 enrollment majors, more than 10,000 full-time students (including international students), and more than 400 faculty and staff. The school has two provincial advantage majors, mechanical manufacturing and automation, and electrical automation technology, as well as five provincial specialty majors, including construction engineering technology, mechatronics technology, and ship engineering technology; 8 major training bases such as the Sino-German Intelligent Manufacturing Platform, including 4 provincial demonstration training bases. In the past three years, more than 500 students have won awards in various skill competitions at the provincial level and above, and the average employment rate of graduates has reached more than 97%. In recent years, the school has continuously improved its internationalization level, established inter-school cooperation with more than 30 colleges and universities in more than 15 countries and regions such as Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States, and has been approved for two Sino-foreign cooperative education projects in ship engineering technology and visual communication design.
