Private Hualian College was founded in 1990 by a group of retired professors from some ordinary colleges and universities in Guangzhou, including South China Normal University, South China University of Technology, Jinan University, Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University (formerly Guangdong University for Nationalities). In 1994, it was approved by the Guangdong Provincial Government and registered by the Ministry of Education, becoming the first batch of private ordinary colleges and universities in Guangdong with academic education enrollment qualifications in the country, and participated in the national college entrance examination unified enrollment in the same year. The college enjoys the same treatment as public ordinary colleges and universities in terms of enrollment qualifications, student loans for poor students, national scholarships for outstanding students, and academic qualifications. The academic diplomas of graduates are supervised by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, uniformly numbered, and electronically registered. The college currently has nearly 10,000 students, and this year it has opened 38 majors. It also has a continuing education college dedicated to adult higher education. The college co-organizes the "Xiangtongtong" self-taught undergraduate education with South China Normal University, Jinan University, South China Agricultural University, Guangdong University of Foreign Trade and Foreign Studies and other universities. Currently, there are 4,880 part-time undergraduate students. In 2009, with the approval of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, the college obtained the qualification to recruit foreign students. On December 17, 2014, our college was approved by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security to establish the Guangdong Private Hualian Vocational Training College. It has now provided various trainings for nearly 10,000 people inside and outside the school and obtained qualified skills certificates. In the past 10 years, the average employment rate of our graduates has been above 96%, and more than 60,000 applied talents with practical hands-on ability have been trained for the society. Private Hualian College adheres to the purpose of putting morality first and skills first, and adheres to the educational philosophy of "setting goals, cultivating oneself, being knowledgeable, and serving the country". For 15 years, it has insisted on carrying out social practice activities among all students (a total of 126 sessions, with nearly 40,000 students participating); adheres to the educational thoughts of the great educator Mr. Tao Xingzhi, "learning to be a real person", "teaching people to seek truth", and "teaching, learning, and doing in one", and widely carries out Tao Xingzhi activities among students; insists on carrying out rich and colorful club activities (there are 54 clubs, with more than 95% of students participating). Through the above activities, students' body and mind are exercised, and their moral education level is constantly improved. Private Hualian College implements the principal responsibility system under the leadership of the board of directors, which is a veritable professor-run school and professor-governed school. The college's unique management system consists of four major systems, namely decision-making-board of directors; execution-school affairs committee; supervision-party committee, trade union; consultation-professor committee. The college has a strong faculty, with a team of more than 400 full-time and part-time dual-teacher teachers who have been built over 30 years, with retired professors from all over the country as the backbone, and young and middle-aged teachers as the main body. They have rich teaching experience, practical ability and stable full-time and part-time dual-teacher teaching staff. It is their responsibility to cultivate compound application-oriented talents with solid professional knowledge, strong application ability and high comprehensive quality for the society. Private Hualian College is located in Tianhe District, Guangzhou, with full coverage of buses, subways and highways, and very convenient transportation. The student dormitories are fully equipped with modern living facilities, and the school has a new look. It is very convenient for students to work part-time, intern, and find employment.
