Guizhou Construction Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1979. After the periods of Guizhou Building Materials Industry School and Guizhou Construction School, it was named Guizhou Construction Vocational and Technical College in 2014. The college is a full-time public general higher vocational college directly under the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education. It is mainly full-time general higher education, supplemented by secondary vocational education and non-academic education. It is a higher vocational college in Guizhou Province that focuses on cultivating technical and skilled talents in construction. The college covers an area of more than 500 acres and has more than 13,000 secondary and higher vocational students. The college has six teaching units: the School of Civil Engineering, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Art and Design, the School of Information Management, the Guizhou Construction School and the School of Continuing Education. The college currently has more than 500 faculty and staff, of which 31% have doctoral and master's degrees, 21% have associate professors and above, and 65% are "dual-qualified" teachers. The college adheres to the school motto of "virtue, skill, joy of learning, and good teaching", condenses the education concept of "learning from Lu Ban's spirit and becoming a great craftsman", takes "building buildings in mountains and building Guizhou city with wisdom" as the professional characteristics, and forms a "dual subject" education model and a "12345" education system. The college has created five major professional groups represented by the construction engineering professional group and the construction equipment professional group, and has opened 25 majors such as construction engineering technology, construction equipment engineering technology, building decoration engineering technology, construction economic information management, and new building materials engineering technology. There are construction engineering training bases, building materials engineering training bases, engineering surveying training bases, building decoration training bases, comprehensive construction equipment training bases, information technology training bases, and public training bases. Training places have been built to lay a solid foundation for cultivating high-quality technical and skilled talents, skilled craftsmen, and great craftsmen. The college is a national training base for skilled and scarce talents in the construction industry, a national advanced unit of vocational education, an excellent school of Huang Yanpei vocational education, one of the first batch of digital campus construction experimental schools in vocational colleges, a national advanced collective for poverty alleviation, and one of the top 50 media-influenced colleges in higher vocational colleges. It is the third batch of pilot acceptance units of the Ministry of Education's modern apprenticeship system and a pilot construction unit for 1+X certificates. The "Guizhou Construction Vocational Education Group" led by the college is one of the first six vocational education groups in the province and a national demonstration vocational education group (alliance) cultivation unit. The college has built national-level intelligent construction virtual simulation training base, BIM productive production and education integration base, national-level vocational education teacher teaching innovation team, national-level construction demonstration vocational education group, national-level building intelligent modern apprenticeship pilot unit, China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week "Knowing Guizhou" Silk Road Youth Exchange Program Project and other national projects.
