Changbaishan Vocational and Technical College is the only public college in Baishan City, Jilin Province. Its history can be traced back to the 1950s. It was established in 2008 by integrating the Baishan Branch of the former Tonghua Normal College, Jilin Provincial School of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Baishan City Accounting Technical School. The environment is clean and beautiful, and the facilities are fully functional. The school covers an area of 290.6 acres and a building area of 98,346.16 square meters. It is backed by the beautiful Qingshan Lake Scenic Area. It is an ecological, garden-style, digital and smart campus that integrates mountains and waters. The school has strong faculty and rich teaching resources. The school currently has 369 faculty and staff, 274 full-time teachers, including 25 professors, 89 associate professors, and 120 dual-qualified teachers. The school is mainly based on higher vocational education, while taking into account secondary vocational education. There are currently 5,665 students, including 5,148 higher vocational students and 517 secondary vocational students. The teaching and training equipment is worth more than 16.7 million yuan, and the library has a collection of 165,000 paper books and 89,000 electronic books. There are 102 on-campus practice bases, including the Chinese medicine pharmaceutical technology training center, education training center, nursing training center, e-commerce comprehensive training room, maker center training room, and mental health training room; 115 off-campus internship training bases have been established with well-known domestic enterprises, colleges, and government departments such as Nongfu Spring (Baishan) Co., Ltd., Xiuzhen Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd., Jilin University Second Hospital, and Changchun Normal University. A series of measures such as school-enterprise cooperation, order training, and busy work and off-study have achieved a deep integration of industry and education, helping thousands of students grow and become talents, with an employment rate of 90%. The majors are reasonably set up to serve the characteristic economy. The school has six teaching departments of traditional Chinese medicine, tourism, education, nursing, finance, and industrial engineering, and two teaching departments of ideological and political education and public basics. It offers 17 higher vocational majors, including acupuncture and massage, nursing, rehabilitation therapy technology, Chinese medicine, Chinese medicine pharmacy, drug operation and management, preschool education, primary education, physical education, mechatronics technology, big data and accounting, e-commerce, big data and financial management, tourism management, hotel management and digital operation, food inspection and testing technology, and accounting information management; among them, the four professional groups of "traditional Chinese medicine professional group, nursing professional group, teacher education professional group, and finance and commerce professional group" are the construction projects of high-level higher vocational professional groups with characteristics in Jilin Province. In order to meet the needs of the mineral water industry in Baishan City, Changbai Mountain (International) Health Water Science College and Changbai Mountain (International) Health Water Research Institute were established in 2021 to provide talent support for the development of characteristic economy in the fields of education, medical care, pharmaceuticals, elderly care, accounting, tourism, and mineral water. The education has distinct characteristics and clear school goals. The school takes "moral education" as the primary goal of talent training, highlights the characteristics of practical education, and the "second classroom transcript" system is gradually improving, forming a "one lesson" and "two lessons" linkage and complementary education model, and creating a "moral education" transcript for the first time in domestic universities; innovate the school-local, school-school, and school-enterprise cooperation model to improve the quality of talent training and expand the scale of school operation; give full play to the advantages of school resources, actively assume social service responsibilities, and improve the quality of social services.
