Aksu Vocational and Technical College is a full-time general comprehensive higher vocational college under the management of the Aksu Regional Administrative Office. It has always adhered to the school motto of "Be virtuous and love the land, attach importance to skills and practice", abided by the spirit of "reform and innovation, scientific development, self-improvement and pursuit of excellence", and insisted on the concept of "educating people with the spirit of poplar and serving the development of Xinjiang and consolidating the border". It cultivates high-quality technical and skilled talents to serve the regional economic and social development. In October 2020, it successfully applied and became the only "High-quality Higher Vocational and Technical College" construction unit in the autonomous region in southern Xinjiang. In 2022, the college's "East-West Exchange" summer social practice team was named an outstanding team for the national "Three Going to the Countryside" social practice. The two projects "Inheriting the Kekoya Spirit, Building a Stable and Prosperous Xinjiang and the People Project" and "Research on the Kekoya Spirit" were approved as national college ideological and political education projects and the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Planning Fund Projects respectively. The "Continuing the Red Bloodline, Promoting the Kekoya Spirit" study brand won the "Top Ten Works Award" of the Second Xinjiang Social Science Popularization Award, and became the only university in Aksu Prefecture to be shortlisted for the "Autonomous Region Science Popularization Education Base". The college is the first batch of demonstration training bases for skilled nursing professionals in the five northwestern provinces designated by the Ministry of Education and other six national ministries and commissions, an excellent unit in the national assessment of talent training for higher vocational colleges, a base for the autonomous region's selection of national vocational skills competitions, the second batch of pilot colleges for the opening of "4+0" and "3+2" applied undergraduate programs in the autonomous region, and the first batch of pilot units for the "group-based aid to Xinjiang" by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee; it is the only autonomous region-level demonstration higher vocational college in southern Xinjiang, and is the regional vocational education research center, vocational school professional construction guidance committee, ideological and political education research center, ideological and political integration of universities, middle schools and primary schools, aesthetic education base for primary and secondary schools, and the leading unit of the "Zhejiang-Afghanistan Vocational Education Development Alliance". It has successively won 6 national honorary titles such as excellent and second-class in the assessment of talent training for higher vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education, and 36 autonomous region-level honorary titles such as autonomous region demonstration higher vocational colleges. With the concern and attention of the Prefectural Party Committee and the Administrative Office, Aksu Prefecture invested more than 900 million yuan in March 2019 to implement the relocation project of the college's new campus. The new campus is located in Aksu University City, which was built, completed, put into use and enrolled students in the same year, demonstrating the Aksu speed in the development of vocational education in the autonomous region. The campus covers an area of 1,162 acres and has a construction area of 178,700 square meters. There are 34 higher vocational majors in 12 categories, including medicine and health, agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry, culture and education, mechanical and electrical engineering, and art. There are 10 five-year continuous training majors for secondary and higher vocational education, and 7 pilot undergraduate majors for application-oriented talent training. A complete vocational education system has been formed with applied undergraduate education as the pilot, higher vocational education as the main body, and secondary vocational education, vocational training and appraisal, and adult continuing education coexisting. There are 12,718 full-time students, including nearly 300 undergraduates. 1. The school has a long history. The college was established in 2002. It was formed by the merger of six schools including the former Aksu Agricultural School. Among them, the Aksu District Cooperative Cadre School was founded in 1958 and renamed the Aksu Agricultural School in 1970; the Aksu Agricultural Machinery School was founded in 1974, the Aksu Finance and Trade School was founded in 1979, the Aksu District People's Hospital Medical Class was founded in 1958 and renamed the Aksu Health School in 1985; the Aksu Art Class was founded in 1974 and renamed the Aksu Culture and Art School in 1989; the Aksu Sports School was founded in 1988 and renamed the Aksu Sports School in 1998. 2. Strong faculty. The college has 405 full-time teachers, including 123 with doctoral and master's degrees, 94 with senior professional titles, 164 with intermediate professional titles, and 178 "double-qualified" teachers. At the same time, a large number of experts and professors with rich practical experience are also hired as part-time teachers. 3. The enrollment and employment situation is good. In 2022, the college enrolled 3,504 students in Xinjiang, Gansu, Henan, Ningxia, Shaanxi, Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou, Sichuan and other provinces. Since its establishment, it has trained more than 30,000 graduates, and the employment rate of graduates in the past three years has reached more than 95%. Among them, the employment rate of graduates in 2022 reached 99.17%. The college's employment work case won the "2021 Higher Vocational College Employment Competitiveness Demonstration Case" of China Youth Daily. 85% of graduates are employed in southern Xinjiang, which has made important contributions to stabilizing Xinjiang and borders, maintaining social stability, and promoting economic and social development. 4. The service regional development is in place. The college's professional settings are closely connected with the advantageous industries in Xinjiang, especially in southern Xinjiang and Aksu, and school-enterprise cooperation and integration of production and education have been widely carried out, and 156 off-campus training bases have been established. At the same time, the college actively integrates into the rural revitalization strategy, widely carries out adult education, vocational skills training, technical services, skills appraisal and social, economic and cultural service activities, and was rated as a "high-quality farmer training institution at the autonomous region level". In 2019, the Aksu Prefectural Committee proposed the decision-making and deployment of "building a regional vocational education highland", supporting the college to build a regional high-level vocational and technical school, and included the transformation of the college into an undergraduate vocational college in the region's "14th Five-Year Plan" development plan.
