Beihai Institute of Art and Design is located in the beautiful coastal city of Beibu Gulf - Beihai City, Guangxi. Formerly the Guangxi Branch of Beijing Arts and Crafts School founded in 2000, Beihai Vocational College of Art and Design was established in 2003. In 2014, it was upgraded to a general undergraduate college and renamed Beihai Institute of Art and Design. It is the only general undergraduate college in Beihai City. Since its establishment, the school has always adhered to the socialist direction of running schools, always adhered to the application-oriented school-running positioning and the public welfare and non-profit nature of running schools, and upheld the school-running philosophy of "morality-based, artistic refinement", creating a school culture of "pragmatic and steadfast", and establishing the talent training ideas of "education-based, culture-based, application-based, and ability-based". It actively explores the school-running model and development path of private colleges and universities in underdeveloped areas in the western border, and has delivered more than 12,000 high-quality application-oriented undergraduate talents to the society. The school draws on the Ministry of Education's Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program to implement the "3+1" (Beihai + Beijing) training model. In the first three years, students will be influenced by the unique regional culture and marine culture of the west in Beihai, complete general education courses, professional basic courses, and professional courses. During the senior year, they will enter the Beijing practice base, relying on Beijing's political, economic, social, cultural, and artistic resource advantages, experience the advanced culture of an international metropolis, enter famous companies for practical internships, broaden students' artistic creation horizons, and complete professional practice courses, professional inspections, graduation internships, graduation design (thesis) and other comprehensive professional practice links. The school has built a Beijing practice base, covering all majors of the school. Shuangcheng Education broadens students' horizons, increases their knowledge, strengthens their entrepreneurial employment capabilities, broadens employment channels, and achieves a school-running effect of 3+1>4. The school has 8 secondary colleges, 13,637 ordinary undergraduate students, and 21 undergraduate majors, covering disciplines such as art, literature, education, and philosophy. Among them, there are 3 first-class professional construction sites at the autonomous region level, 2 key majors at the autonomous region level, 1 professional transformation demonstration site at the autonomous region level, 2 advantageous and characteristic majors of private colleges and universities at the autonomous region level, 1 demonstration course of ideological and political courses at the autonomous region level, and 3 first-class courses at the autonomous region level. The school currently has 1,023 faculty and staff, 637 full-time teachers, 445 external teachers, equivalent to 869 teachers, and a student-teacher ratio of 15.69:1. Dual-teacher and dual-ability professional course teachers account for 34.38%. Among the full-time teachers, 80.38% have a master's degree or above. There is 1 national outstanding teacher, 1 "Bagui famous teacher", 2 "autonomous region outstanding teachers", 1 "most beautiful sponsor" in Guangxi, and 7 autonomous region ideological and political teaching teachers. The school has hired more than 120 famous teachers from famous schools and industry masters to lead professional development and participate in talent training, solving the problem of shortage of high-quality higher education resources in border ethnic areas. The school takes moral education as its fundamental task, implements the "five-pronged education" education policy, and explores the Beihai + Beijing dual-city training and school + enterprise collaborative education mechanism to solve the problem of shortage of higher education resources in border ethnic minority areas. It has initially formed a "5562" high-quality application-oriented talent training model, and the quality of training has been widely recognized and praised by the society. In the past three years, 1,556 students have won awards in various competitions at the autonomous region level and above. In particular, in 2021, they won the national silver medal in the 7th China International "Internet +" College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition; in August 2022, in the "National General College Student Art Competition List" released for the first time by the China Higher Education Society, our school entered the A level with 158 awards, ranking 33rd among the 1,098 undergraduate colleges and universities in the country, and ranked second among private colleges and universities in the country. In November 2022, we participated in the development of the first national art competition group standard "General Requirements for the Organization and Management of Digital Art Competitions in Ordinary Colleges and Universities" (Standard No. T/CAS672-2022). From 2017 to 2019, it won the honorary title of "Outstanding Unit for Employment and Entrepreneurship of Graduates from Ordinary Colleges and Universities in Guangxi" for three consecutive years, and won the title of "Outstanding Unit for Employment of Graduates from Ordinary Colleges and Universities in the Region in 2022". The school has a beautiful campus environment and has been recognized as a "Green School in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region". The school takes serving the society as its mission, actively integrates into the local economic and social development, and completes more than 200 project consultations and project designs for local governments and enterprises. The 3D animation "Treasures of the South Pearl of the Maritime Silk Road" co-created with Guangxi Kuerdeng Cultural Media Company won the Outstanding Work Award of the 14th "Five One Project" in Guangxi. "Brand Promotion Project of Edible Fungi Industry in Chixi Village, Gaode Town, Beihai City" and "Art Meets Beautiful Countryside-Beihai Bougainvillea Tourism Poverty Alleviation Project" were selected as innovative cases of rural revitalization empowered by design in colleges and universities across the country. The reform and development of the school has received social attention and full recognition. The satisfaction of employers with graduates has remained at around 95%. It has successively won the "Outstanding Contribution Award" and "Featured School" and other honorary titles of the Guangxi Private Education Association. For several consecutive years, it has been rated as an outstanding unit for employment and entrepreneurship of graduates from ordinary colleges and universities in Guangxi. People's Daily, Xinhuanet, Study Power, China Education Daily, Guangxi News Network, Beihai Radio and Television Station, Beihai Daily and many other media have reported on our school's teaching construction and reform experience.
