The school was founded in 1965 and was formerly known as Hunan Material School. In March 2005, Hunan Material School and Hunan Petrochemical Workers University merged and upgraded to Hunan Modern Logistics Vocational and Technical College. The school is the only college in the country with modern logistics as its leading major. It is a public full-time general college and is now affiliated to the Hunan Provincial Department of Education. The school is located in Quantang, Yuanda 2nd Road, Changsha City, adjacent to the Xingsha National Economic and Technological Development Zone, Changsha City. The school currently has more than 400 teachers and more than 9,000 students. The school has fully connected with the logistics industry to create a large professional group of modern logistics. It currently has seven secondary colleges, including the School of Logistics Management, the School of Logistics Engineering, the School of Logistics Information, the School of Logistics Business, the School of Logistics Humanities and Arts, the School of International Cooperation and Continuing Education, and the School of Marxism. It offers 28 majors, including logistics management, logistics engineering technology, logistics information technology, Internet of Things technology, and logistics financial management. In recent years, the school has made remarkable achievements in connotation construction. It is one of the few enrollment units for international students in China registered by the Hunan Provincial Department of Education.
