Shaoyang Vocational and Technical College is located in Shaoyang, a thousand-year-old treasure city. It was established by merging the former Shaoyang Economic and Trade School (1952), Shaoyang Mechanical and Electrical Engineering School (1979) and Shaoyang Agricultural School (1957). It is a full-time national public general higher vocational college approved by the Hunan Provincial People's Government in 2003, registered by the Ministry of Education, and hosted and supervised by the Shaoyang Municipal People's Government. It is a construction unit of Hunan Province's "Chuyi" high-level higher vocational school, the first batch of Hunan Province's "Chuyi Craftsman Plan" vocational undergraduate professional pilot schools, the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce's production-education integration training demonstration base, the national new professional farmer training demonstration base, and the Ministry of Education's second batch of "Tanzania National Occupational Standard Development Project" certification units. The college covers an area of 426,880 m2, with a total construction area of 203,565 m2, a total value of more than 65 million yuan for teaching instruments and equipment, and a collection of 416,200 books. There are 458 faculty members, 394 full-time and part-time teachers, 198 "dual-qualified" teachers, and 106 teachers with professional and technical titles above associate senior. There are more than 12,000 students enrolled in school. In 2022, the Hunan Internet + Characteristic Light Industry Industry-Education Integration Base and the Hunan "Chuyi" Cultural Heritage Base were successfully established. The college focuses on the integration of industry and education, school-enterprise cooperation, and implements the "dual-subject, six-in-one" talent training model. The school has carried out in-depth school-enterprise cooperation with well-known companies such as Sany Heavy Industry, Zoomlion, Schindler Elevator, BYD Auto, and Shaoyang Road and Bridge, and jointly built five industrial colleges such as elevator engineering, intelligent manufacturing, new energy vehicles, construction engineering, and the Internet, and 92 high-quality internship and training bases to train high-level technical and skilled talents on an order-based basis.
