Hegang Normal College is a public full-time general college approved by the Ministry of Education in 2002. Its predecessor was Hegang Normal School, Hegang Mining Bureau Normal School and Hegang Finance School, which were founded in 1958. It has a 63-year history of running schools. The school is located in Hegang City, a golden triangle area surrounded by the "two rivers and one mountain range" of Heilongjiang, Songhua River and Lesser Khingan Mountains, and is located on the banks of the beautiful Wutong River in the Heilongjiang River Basin. It borders Jiamusi on the southeast facing Songhua River, and Yichun on the west facing Lesser Khingan Mountains. It faces Russia across the Heilongjiang River to the north. It has two national first-class ports, Luobei and Suibin. Heilongjiang is one of the longest pollution-free boundary rivers in the world. The vast mountains that pass through the Lesser Khingan Mountains have created the magnificent Longjiang Three Gorges. It is the best ecological place for Putin's tiger to land in China. It is known as a tourist destination for "avoiding the cold in the South China Sea and cooling off in the North River". This is the hometown of Heishui Jurchens, the birthplace of the Manchu royal family, and the gathering place of Qing and Jin culture. It is the cradle of medicine and film in New China. The predecessors of China Medical University and Changchun Film Studio are in Hegang. This is the coal capital of the north, where the first pair of modern vertical shafts in New China were born. It was once the fourth largest coal mine in the country. It once welcomed the first batch of educated youth from Beijing represented by Yang Hua to reclaim wasteland. It is the hometown of famous artists such as Guo Song, Yin Xiumei, and Liu Jia. Cultural celebrities such as Ding Ling, Zhang Kangkang, Guo Song, Jiang Kun, and Pu Cunxin have studied, worked, and lived here. This place has a profound cultural heritage and has nurtured Qing and Jin culture, Russian-Jewish culture, Anti-Japanese League culture, reclamation culture, educated youth culture, and mining culture. It has been identified as one of the top ten key scenic spots for northern scenery and characteristic tourism in Heilongjiang Province. It has well-preserved original ecological and rich and diverse cultural and tourism resources such as Dajie River, Da Forest, Da Ice and Snow, Da Wetland, Da Agriculture, Da Mining, and Dashilin. The school adheres to the school-running orientation of "taking teacher education as the main body, developing vocational and technical education at the same time, and actively serving basic education and local economic and social development"; adheres to the development goal of "creating characteristics, diversified development, transformation and upgrading, achieving leapfrogging, and building a higher vocational college with a certain influence in the province"; adheres to the school-running philosophy of "taking teaching as the center, educating people as the foundation, focusing on enrollment, taking employment as the orientation, seeking survival by quality, and seeking development by characteristics"; adheres to the teaching management model of "taking professional construction as the leader, curriculum construction as the carrier, teaching reform as the focus, and teaching style and learning style construction as the core", effectively ensuring the quality of talent training and improving the ability of education to serve the development of the economy and society. The school has perfect conditions for running schools. The campus covers an area of 505,800 square meters, a building area of 96,000 square meters, fixed assets of 149.6385 million yuan, a total value of teaching and scientific research equipment of 15.5113 million yuan, and a library collection of 408,700 books. The school currently has two teaching buildings and one art and sports complex, which includes a basketball hall, volleyball hall, table tennis hall, gymnastics hall, dance hall, and piano room; there are standardized sports fields, basketball courts, tennis courts and other sports venues; there are restaurant and supermarket complexes and four apartment buildings that can accommodate more than 5,000 students, and an affiliated primary school. More than 20 experimental and training bases inside and outside the school have been built, including the Teacher Education Comprehensive Quality Training Center, Preschool Education Training Center, Computer Network Technology Training Center, and Accounting Computerization Laboratory. The school has 7 departments: Department of Humanities Education, Department of Primary Education, Department of Preschool Education, Department of Foreign Languages, Department of Physical Education, Department of Vocational Technology, and Department of Ideological and Political Theory Teaching and Research. There are 207 full-time teachers and 132 "double-qualified" teachers. The school currently has 28 professors and senior professional titles, 147 associate professors and associate senior professional titles; 2 doctoral students, 129 master's students, 50.6% of teachers have associate senior titles or above, 37.4% of teachers have master's degrees or above, and 63.5% of teachers have dual-qualified qualifications. There are 2 teachers who enjoy special allowances from the State Council and the provincial government, 2 teachers who have won the Zeng Xianzi Foundation Award, 4 provincial famous teachers, 1 provincial leading talent echelon discipline leader, 6 municipal leading talent echelon leaders, 15 top talents, and 13 excellent talents. The school is a training base for primary school teachers and preschool education teachers in the eastern part of Heilongjiang Province, a cultural research base for the Heilongjiang River Basin, and a training base for rural management cadres in Hegang City. In 2011, our school took the lead in becoming one of the 9 higher vocational (junior college) colleges in the province to carry out the pilot work of independent enrollment reform. In 2013, our school was listed as one of the 6 higher vocational (junior college) colleges in the province to recruit and enroll in the pilot colleges for the training of scarce talents for ordinary high school students. The enrollment area covers 24 provinces and autonomous regions across the country.
