In 2001, it was upgraded to an art college with the approval of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government and the filing of the Ministry of Education. The college consists of the Nie Er Conservatory of Music, the School of Performing Arts, the School of Media, the School of Design, the School of Humanities, and the School of Aviation and Tourism. It has established scientific research institutions such as the Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance Teaching Research Center, the Institute of Ethnic Music, and the Institute of Public Relations and Public Opinion, and has opened more than 20 majors.
