Yunnan Vocational College of Economics, Trade and Foreign Affairs is a full-time college-level higher vocational school approved by the Yunnan Provincial People's Government in 2007 and officially registered by the Ministry of Education in 2008. In March 2011, the Yunnan Vocational College of Economics, Trade and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Communist Party of China was established with the approval of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, and the Party Secretary (Supervisory Specialist) was stationed. In the process of running the school, the party's overall leadership of the school has always been adhered to, focusing on the implementation of the fundamental task of "establishing morality and cultivating people", conscientiously implementing the party's education policy, adhering to the school motto of "cultivating morality, aspiring to learn, strengthening ability, and applying", and is committed to cultivating socialist builders and successors with all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics and labor. After more than 20 years of construction and development, the school has formed a pattern of running schools in Yanglin and Haikou. The school covers an area of more than 574,000 square meters, with a total building area of nearly 500,000 square meters. The total value of the school's fixed assets is nearly 590 million yuan, and the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is more than 67 million yuan. There are 12,959 students on campus, with a student-teacher ratio of 17.62:1. The average annual number of students trained by cooperative enterprises is more than 2,600. In the past three years, there are about 4,500 graduates, and the initial employment rate is above 90%. The school currently has 4 characteristic professional groups and 57 enrollment majors, covering industries and social services such as construction engineering, artificial intelligence, health management, modern services, and trade. In recent years, the school has seized the new development opportunities of the country's "accelerating the construction of a modern vocational education system" and Yunnan Province's new positioning of building a billion-level logistics industry, "three world cards", "five networks" infrastructure construction, and the vigorous development of the rural revitalization strategy, which urgently needs a large number of compound high-quality technical and skilled talents. Adhere to the school-running philosophy of reform and innovation to empower development, and concentrate on the connotation construction of school-running systems and education models as the core. There are currently 2 high-level backbone majors recognized by the Ministry of Education and 5 provincial high-level backbone majors. It has achieved remarkable results in party building, teaching quality engineering, employment and entrepreneurship, provincial and above vocational skills, dual innovation and cultural and sports competitions. The foundation of the development of the connotation of education level has been continuously improved, and the ranking of comprehensive strength has continued to move forward. It is now ranked first among private higher vocational colleges in the province, and its advantages and characteristics in running schools have gradually emerged. In the process of more than 20 years of running schools, the school has achieved many national and provincial school-running achievements: it is a pilot unit of the "AI Artificial Intelligence College" of the Ministry of Education and a member of the first batch of "Luban Workshop" alliance; the vocational education group led by it is a national demonstration vocational education group cultivation unit; a total of 133 national and provincial teaching construction achievements and cases have been obtained. It has successively won many titles such as China's Outstanding Private Higher Education Institutions, Yunnan Province's Characteristic Backbone Higher Vocational Colleges, Yunnan Province's High-quality Higher Vocational Colleges, Modern Apprenticeship Pilot, Yunnan Province's "Civilized School" and Yunnan Province's Outstanding Private Education School. In 2021, it won one first prize and one second prize in the Yunnan Province Teaching Achievement Award.
