The college is a public full-time general college approved by the Ministry of Education, which implements higher vocational education at the junior college level. Its predecessor was the Zhili No. 5 Normal School founded in 1917. In 2004, it was merged into the Xuanhua Branch of Zhangjiakou Education College, and was rebuilt into Xuanhua Science and Technology Vocational College in 2007. The college is located in the ancient city of Xuanhua, the "First Prefecture in Western Beijing", covering an area of 410 acres, with 60,000 square meters of sports venues and a beautiful environment. It is a national model unit for greening. The college currently has 516 faculty and staff. Among them, there is 1 doctoral degree, 235 master's degrees, 30 professors, 179 associate senior titles or above, and 357 dual-qualified teachers. There are currently 14,938 students enrolled. The college has 8 teaching units including the School of Preschool Education, the School of Culture and Media, the School of Aviation and High-speed Railway, the School of New Energy, the Department of Management Engineering, the Department of Information Engineering, the School of Marxism, and the Department of Physical Education, 10 party and government management agencies, and 6 full-time teaching and auxiliary agencies. There are 35 majors for enrollment, covering ten major categories, including electronic information, energy power and materials, transportation, equipment manufacturing, education and sports, and medical care. The college is a high-level vocational college construction unit in Hebei Province. It has built one provincial high-level professional group, one production-education integration training base, one application technology collaborative innovation center, one technical skills master studio, and three teacher teaching innovation teams. The preschool education major is a traditional advantage major, which was opened in 1978. At present, there are more than 3,500 students in this major, and graduates are spread across major kindergartens in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, with an employment rate of 100%. The new energy major is an emerging backbone major. It has undertaken the training of instructors for the two competitions of the National Training Program for Vocational Colleges in 2021. It is the base for the vocational skills competition of higher vocational colleges in the province. The school-enterprise cooperation project of this major has absorbed 130 million yuan of enterprise funds. In the past two years, students have won 3 first prizes, 18 second prizes, and 15 third prizes in the Hebei Vocational College Skills Competition; and won 1 gold medal, 3 silver medals, and 5 bronze medals in the Hebei Challenge Cup Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The teaching team won the first prize in the sixth national college student art performance; won the first prize in the provincial counselor skills competition; and won the second prize in the Hebei Provincial Teaching Ability Competition and the second prize in teaching achievements. The goal of the college is to be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, keep in mind the original intention, remember the mission, emancipate the mind, reform and innovate, and by 2025, build the college into a high-quality vocational college in Hebei Province with distinctive characteristics, strong brand and beautiful environment, and make greater contributions to the social and economic development of the city and the province.
