Anhui Industrial Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1979 and began to offer higher vocational education in 2000. It is a municipal public general higher vocational college approved by the Anhui Provincial People's Government. In recent years, the college has successively won the honorary titles of "Advanced Collective of Vocational Education in Anhui Province", "Civilized Unit in Anhui Province", "Advanced Collective of Employment Work in the Province", "National May 4th Red Flag Youth League Committee", and "Civilized Campus in Tongling City". The college is located in Tongling City, the birthplace of the bronze civilization of the Chinese nation and the ancient bronze capital of China. It covers an area of 760 acres and currently has the main campus and West Lake campus, which are adjacent to the national AAAA-level scenic spots Tianjing Lake Park and West Lake Wetland Park respectively. The building area is 288,000 square meters, the library has a collection of more than 370,000 books, and has more than 100 experimental training rooms of various types on campus, and various teaching training, life services, sports and fitness and other functional facilities are complete. The college currently has more than 400 full-time teachers, including 1 person enjoying the State Council subsidy, more than 160 people with senior titles above associate professor, 5 provincial professional leaders, 11 provincial teaching masters and new teachers, 1 provincial outstanding teacher, 2 provincial technical experts, 2 famous teachers in Tongling City, 1 outstanding top talent, 2 Tongdu Young Talent Teachers, and more than 50% of them are "double-qualified" teachers. The college has 6 departments including the Department of Information Engineering, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, the Department of Electrical Engineering, the Department of Resource Development, the Department of Management Engineering, and the Basic Department. The college has set up majors closely around the construction of regional industrial clusters and the development needs of industry enterprises, and has basically formed a professional pattern with national and provincial key construction majors as the leader, and modern manufacturing, electronic information, resource development and financial management as the four professional groups. Among the 29 majors opened, there are 2 national demonstration key construction majors supported by the central government, 6 provincial characteristic majors, 6 provincial comprehensive reform pilot majors, and 3 provincial backbone majors. In recent years, the college has won 361 awards of various types, including 10 first prizes, 13 second prizes, and 22 third prizes at the national level; 36 first prizes, 98 second prizes, and 182 third prizes at the provincial level. In 2010, the college achieved a breakthrough in the first prize at the national level in Anhui Province at the National Vocational College Vocational Skills Competition.
