Hong Kong Baptist College is a private institution of higher learning founded by the Hong Kong Baptist Convention in 1956, dedicated to providing holistic education. In 1983, the then Baptist College received full government funding and became a public higher education institution. In 1994, it was renamed Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). Today, HKBU has eight colleges, offering bachelor's, associate degree and higher diploma programs, as well as taught and research-based master's and doctoral programs. HKBU attaches equal importance to teaching and research, and encourages faculty and students to serve the community. HKBU takes holistic education as its educational philosophy and is now one of the best higher education institutions in Asia.
