Shanxi Yuncheng Agricultural Vocational and Technical College was formerly known as Yuncheng Agricultural School, which was founded in 1951. In October 2004, it was approved by the provincial government and registered by the Ministry of Education to be the only agricultural vocational college in Shanxi Province. The college covers an area of 653,474.58 square meters. It currently has 55 on-campus training rooms, 12 internship bases, and 47 off-campus training bases; 8,584 students; 220 faculty and staff, 162 full-time teachers, and 88 dual-qualified teachers: the employment rate of graduates in the past three years has been above 90%. The college currently has 6 teaching departments, including the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Engineering, the Department of Animal Science and Technology (Preparatory), the Department of Economics and Trade Management, the Department of Information Technology, the Basic Teaching Department, and the Ideological and Political Teaching Department. It offers 31 majors, including 11 agricultural majors. Four majors, namely food inspection and testing technology, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, modern agricultural economic management, and big data and accounting, have been identified as key majors in vocational education in Shanxi Province; the horticultural technology major has been identified as a central government-supported project to enhance the development capacity of professional service industries and a high-level key major in Shanxi Province; four majors, namely food inspection and testing technology, modern agricultural economic management, big data and accounting, and Internet of Things application technology (agricultural Internet of Things direction), have been established as high-level training bases for higher vocational education in Shanxi Province; animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, and big data and accounting have been established as pilot majors for the modern apprenticeship system in Shanxi Province; the animal husbandry and veterinary medicine major has been established as a key construction major of Yuncheng City's "1331 Project"; 26 majors have been identified as pilot majors for the "1+X" certificate system in Shanxi Province, 28 teachers have obtained the qualification of "1+X" vocational skill level assessors, and 368 students have obtained "1+X" skill level certificates. In recent years, the college has won 2 provincial silver medals and 6 bronze medals in the "Internet +" Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students; 3 second prizes and 4 third prizes in the national vocational school skills competition, 8 first prizes, 12 second prizes and 34 third prizes in the provincial competition; and successfully held the 15th and 16th Shanxi Vocational School Skills Competition for Higher Vocational Group Flower Arrangement Skills. The college has established a "Three Rural Issues" service center, 8 "Expert Studios" and 10 "Teacher Studios". More than 20 teachers and industry experts regularly conduct technical exchanges and "send education to the countryside", benefiting more than 10,000 farmers annually; 3 "Rural Revitalization Silver Studios" have been established. Veteran experts and teachers represented by fruit production, winter jujube production, and pest and disease control have given more than 100 lectures and courses to farmers in various counties and cities in Yuncheng, benefiting more than 1,000 farmers; in cooperation with Shanxi Jinxing Group, a "Doctoral Work Station for Industry-Education Integration in Animal Husbandry Town" was established; in cooperation with Shanxi Changrong Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd., the "Peijing Plan" was implemented; in cooperation with Fenglin Animal Husbandry Group, the "Technical Regulations for the Full Return of Manure and Urine to the Fields in Large-scale Pig Farms in Shanxi Province" were jointly formulated to solve the problem of resource utilization of livestock and poultry manure. Implement a free pilot project for students majoring in agriculture. Starting from 2020, it will continue for 6 consecutive terms for 8 years, recruiting 500 free students majoring in agriculture each time to serve the development of modern agriculture in Yuncheng; actively undertake various training tasks at all levels for poverty-stricken village leaders, agricultural professional managers, emerging farmers, members of the village committee, etc., and have completed training tasks for 3,857 people in the past four years; cooperate with the Linyi County People's Government to jointly build the "Linyi Fruit Industry Science and Technology College", implement the "One Village, One College Student" plan, accurately train talents for rural revitalization, and promote the county's economic and social development; The Ruicheng County Party Committee and the County Government cooperated with Dayu Biology, Wen's Livestock, Jinshunyuan Agricultural Technology, Shijie Agricultural Professional Cooperative, Yuanpeng Smart Farm and other enterprises to jointly build teaching training bases and "new farmer" teaching points; signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Jiaocheng County Party Committee, Jiaocheng County People's Government, and Jiaocheng County Agriculture Bureau to promote the comprehensive improvement of rural governance talent training and academic qualifications in Jiaocheng County; carried out government-school cooperation with the People's Government of Yangcheng Town, Ruicheng County to help farmers solve the problem of cracking in the development of local red dates, cultivate new varieties and standardized planting, and contribute to rural revitalization. Over the past 72 years, the college has fully implemented the Party’s education policy, always bearing in mind the mission of educating people for the Party and the country; adhering to the nature of agriculture, inheriting innovation; adhering to the school motto of “being virtuous and skilled, seeking knowledge and practicing”, and establishing the school-running philosophy of “moral education first, educating people as the basis, following the industry with majors, and following production with teaching”, and continuously deepening the “224” school-running idea of “adhering to the correct direction of running schools, adhering to the establishment of morality and cultivating people; handling the relationship between scale and efficiency, and the proportion of agricultural and non-agricultural majors; implementing the project of casting souls and educating people, improving governance capabilities, improving teaching quality, and strengthening the foundation”. Based in Yuncheng, facing Shanxi, and radiating the Yellow River Golden Triangle, it has trained more than 40,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents who are “cultured, knowledgeable, good at business, and able to manage” for Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province and surrounding provinces and regions, providing strong talent support for rural revitalization and serving economic and social development.
