Shanghai Minyuan Vocational and Technical College was established in 1998. In 2003, it was approved by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government and became a full-time private general college with the qualification to independently issue college diplomas. In 2021, it passed the classification management and transfer of Shanghai private schools to become a for-profit private college. The school has five secondary colleges, including Intelligent Engineering, Economic Management, New Media, Cultural Tourism, and Marxism, as well as the Department of Continuing Education and the Department of Public Basics. It has 16 majors including cross-border e-commerce, hotel management and digital operations, mechatronics, new energy vehicle technology, intelligent medical equipment technology, industrial robot technology, big data and accounting, and pet medical technology, and recruits students nationwide. After the completion of the new campus in Chongming, the total construction area will reach 70,000 square meters, meeting the needs of a school scale of 4,000 people. According to the development plan of Chongming International Ecological Island, the school focuses on ecological industries such as ecological new cultural tourism, marine new intelligent manufacturing, vibrant new health care, green new technology, and modern new agriculture.
