1. Basic information of the college Handan Vocational College of Science and Technology is a public full-time higher vocational college organized by the Handan Municipal Government. The college was established in February 2020 with the approval of the Hebei Provincial Government and was established in May 2020 with the filing of the Ministry of Education. The college is located in the Vocational Education City of Jinan New District, Handan City, covering an area of more than 800 acres and a total construction area of 510,000 square meters. The college currently has 507 faculty members, including 303 full-time teachers and 165 part-time teachers; 26 people have senior professional titles, 180 people have deputy senior professional titles, and 132 people have intermediate professional titles; 3 people have doctoral degrees and 146 people have master's degrees. The college currently has 10 administrative departments, 6 teaching departments (agriculture and animal husbandry department, materials department, electronic information department, computer department, medical and health department, finance and economics department) and 2 teaching departments (basic teaching department, Marxist teaching department), with 19 enrollment majors including animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, brewing technology, materials engineering, computer application, nursing, accounting information management, etc. It is a comprehensive higher vocational college covering multiple disciplines of science, engineering, economics, agriculture and medicine. The college enrolls students from six provinces including Hebei, Henan, Shanxi, Shandong, Anhui and Shaanxi, and currently has 6,022 students. 2. Education and Teaching Achievements Since the establishment of the college, under the correct leadership and strong support of the municipal party committee and municipal government, the college has thoroughly studied and implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on education and the spirit of the National Vocational Education Conference, implemented the important decisions and arrangements of the province and the city on vocational education, highlighted the characteristics of vocational education types, and took moral education as the fundamental task. Adhere to the cultivation of both morality and skills, strive to promote school-enterprise cooperation, integration of production and education, and integration of science and education, continue to deepen education and teaching reforms, and strive to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents. The school has successively won the titles of "Civilized Campus" and "Advanced Unit for Safety Work" in Handan City. (I) Actively promote "group schooling" and share high-quality vocational education resources. Focusing on the implementation of Handan City's strategy of building a "regional education center", the college and Xiamen Wangzhongwang Software Co., Ltd. jointly took the lead and united more than 20 vocational schools and related enterprises to form the Handan Finance and Commerce Vocational Education Group, which provides a broad platform for sharing high-quality vocational education resources, cultivating technical and skilled talents, and promoting college students' employment and entrepreneurship. (II) Adhere to "promoting learning and teaching through competitions", and the skills competition has made new breakthroughs year after year. Combine teaching, learning and competition organically, lead professional construction and curriculum reform, continuously optimize talent training models, gradually strengthen professional characteristics construction, and comprehensively improve teaching quality. In 2022, the college teachers and students participated in various competitions and won a total of 6 national awards, including: 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, 2 third prizes, 32 provincial awards, and 23 municipal skills competitions. (III) Deepen the "industry-education integration" and actively explore new paths for the development of vocational education. Over the past three years, in order to meet the needs of teaching and student internships, the college has invested hundreds of millions of yuan to build more than 110 professional experimental training rooms based on the training objectives and characteristics of each major. The college has deepened the integration of industry and education, school-enterprise cooperation, and innovated the cooperative talent training model. It has signed school-enterprise cooperation agreements with more than 60 units to promote the integration of schools and enterprises and win-win common development. Recently, it has jointly launched the "Smart Accounting Industry College" project with Xiamen Wangzhongwang Company, and signed a school-enterprise co-construction training base agreement with Hebei Dafang Network Technology Co., Ltd. to carry out modern apprenticeship and order training. (IV) Promote the implementation of "integration of science and education" and achieve fruitful results by promoting education with science. One teaching achievement of the college won the provincial first prize. At present, it has successfully applied for 229 provincial and municipal projects of various types, published nearly 100 papers, more than 10 patents, and published 15 books and textbooks. The college has jointly established the "Animal Infectious Disease Epidemiology Research Center" with Hebei University of Engineering, Beijing Academy of Agricultural and Forestry Sciences Institute of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, and China Science and Technology (Beijing) Pharmaceutical Technology Co., Ltd.; and jointly established the "Intelligent Application Technology Research Center" with several large equipment manufacturing companies in Jinan New District; the Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles has established the Hebei Literary and Art Criticism Base in our college; the Municipal Federation of Social Sciences has established the Handan Plant Culture Research Center, the Handan Rural Revitalization Base, and the Handan Social Science Popularization Base in our college. 3. The college's development ideas actively connect with the most authoritative research institution in the field of higher education in the country-the Institute of Higher Education of the Chinese Academy of Educational Sciences, which assists the college in completing the preparation of medium- and long-term plans, and puts forward the development goal of building "high-quality universities in the province and brand universities with industry-city-education partnerships", and clarifies the development strategy of "two steps" and "five integrations". Combined with the actual situation of the college, in the future, on the basis of continuing to expand the scale of school operation, it will focus on strengthening the creation of characteristic brands, closely focusing on and highlighting the "five major characteristics" of deep integration of industry-city-education, characteristic majors and professional groups, characteristic boutique courses and teaching materials, characteristic teaching models, and characteristic educational environment, and focus on the following work: (I) Lay a solid foundation and lay out in advance. Relying on the construction of the vocational education city, we will focus on promoting the internal infrastructure, teaching staff, professional settings, internal governance system and capacity building of the college. We will meet the needs of regional industries, and start from a high starting point to plan ahead for majors that are in line with the development direction of emerging industries and in line with national vocational education policies, so as to truly realize the integrated development of the college and the regional industrial chain, innovation chain and talent chain. (ii) Cultivate characteristics and develop in a staggered manner. We will actively connect with the development plans and industrial needs of the province, city and Jinan New District, and take "professional group + advantageous major + characteristic major" as the professional construction idea, strengthen advantageous majors, and build several professional groups around the main majors (such as nursing and health care professional group, computer technology professional group, artificial intelligence professional group, finance and commerce professional group, modern agriculture professional group, etc.); refine characteristic majors, and accelerate the construction of characteristic majors such as brewing technology and materials engineering; cultivate emerging majors, and plan ahead for majors related to industries such as wind power and new energy, etc., to promote the transformation and upgrading of the college.
