Anhui Public Security Vocational College is the only full-time public security college in the province under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Public Security Department. It is also the only public security college in Anhui Province that enrolls students majoring in public security, which is recognized by the Central Organization Department, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, and the State Administration of Civil Servants (Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security [2015] No. 106). The college was founded in 1949 and was originally named the Northern Anhui and Southern Anhui Public Security Cadre Schools. It has since gone through the periods of the Provincial Public Security School, the Provincial Political and Legal Cadre School, the Provincial People's Police School, and the Anhui University Public Security College. In June 2004, the Anhui Public Security Vocational College was established with the approval of the provincial government. The college is known as the "Cradle of Anhui Public Security Police Officers". Since its establishment, it has trained more than 20,000 full-time graduates, trained more than 80,000 political and legal police officers, and completed more than 10,000 adult education. Among the graduates, there are "models of the times" Zhang Jie; national public security second-level heroes Ren Fei, Wu Lijun, Fu Wenhong, Zhang Jie, Zhang Ninghai, Sun Changjiang, etc.; Zhu Xiaoyun, Wang Xueyan, and Zhang Wandang were elected as representatives of the 17th, 18th, and 19th National Congresses of the Communist Party of China, respectively. At present, college graduates account for 38.21% of the captains of grassroots front-line departments of public security organs in the province, 40.76% of the leadership teams of county-level public security organs, and 30% of the leadership teams of municipal-level public security organs. 5,267 people have won honors of third-class merit or above. The college is located in the High-tech Zone of Hefei City, close to the beautiful Dashushan National Forest Park, covering an area of about 165 acres, with a school building area of 75,300 square meters, and a total value of 42.27 million teaching instruments and equipment. There are 29 on-campus experimental training sites, 16 off-campus internship training bases, 400,000 books, and more than 600,000 electronic books. The college currently has more than 3,000 students majoring in public security, trains more than 6,000 on-duty police officers each year, and provides continuing education for more than 1,500 people. The college has a reasonable professional layout, with 12 majors, including 7 public security majors, 5 high-level public security majors (formerly provincial specialty majors) such as investigation, public security management, road traffic management, criminal science and technology, and information network security supervision, and 3 provincial backbone majors such as criminal technology, traffic management, and investigation. The college has distinct characteristics in running schools, adheres to the principle of "focusing on actual combat, serving actual combat, actual combat testing, and actual combat guidance", strengthens public security practical teaching, and actively promotes the integrated teaching model of "teaching, learning, training, and fighting". It focuses on cultivating students' police professional spirit with loyalty as the soul of the police and a disciplined style of command and prohibition. Each major emphasizes "one spirit, three basics", namely "police professional spirit, basic public security business, basic legal knowledge, and basic police practical skills" comprehensive training, and reasonably constructs professional course modules. The college has a strong faculty and a full-time and part-time teaching team with a reasonable structure and high quality. There are 229 full-time and part-time teachers, including 55 teachers with deputy senior positions or above, 9 provincial high-level teaching teams, 12 provincial, departmental and college professional leaders, and 13 provincial and ministerial teaching masters. The college currently has 10 provincial-level quality courses and has won the provincial and ministerial teaching skills competitions and teaching achievements for many times. The college relies on the school-bureau cooperation platform to strengthen practical training teaching. There are three provincial-level practical training demonstration base projects, including the criminal investigation training base, the public security law education training base, and the public security management professional school-bureau cooperation training base. In 2012, it successfully passed the talent training and school-running level assessment organized by the Education Department. In the two national public security college teaching skills competitions held by the Ministry of Public Security, the college won the second prize for the group and the first prize for the individual. In the next step, the college will continue to strengthen the construction of disciplines and majors, promote practical teaching reforms, enhance the practical ability of scientific research services, strengthen the characteristics of public security education, and make new and greater contributions to the development of Anhui public security and the construction of talent teams.
