Yongcheng Vocational College is a public full-time higher vocational college approved by the Henan Provincial People's Government and registered by the Ministry of Education. The college is located in Yongcheng City, which is known as the "place of the rise of the Han Dynasty, the capital of energy, the hometown of flour, and the city of ecology". Yongcheng City has convenient transportation. The Zhengzhou-Xuzhou High-speed Railway, the Lianhuo Expressway, the Deshan Expressway and the Yanluo Expressway intersect here. The Yongcheng Airport is under intensive construction. The gurgling Tuohe River and the towering Mangdang add to the pleasant scenery of the entire city. The predecessor of the college was Yongcheng Normal School, which was founded in 1956. After several name changes, it was approved by the Henan Provincial People's Government to establish Yongcheng Vocational College in May 2004. The college is a "brand demonstration college of vocational education in Henan Province", a project construction unit of the "Henan Key Vocational College Construction Project", a project construction school of the "Henan Vocational Education Characteristic College Construction Plan" and a construction unit of the "Henan High-skilled Talent Training Demonstration Base Project". The college has been awarded the honorary titles of “Advanced Collective in Employment of Ordinary College and Technical Secondary School Graduates in Henan Province”, “Advanced Unit in Maintaining Stability in Henan Province”, and “Garden Unit in Henan Province”. The college has 10 departments, including the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Culture and Art, the Department of Economics and Trade, the Department of Electronic Information Engineering, and the Department of Mining Engineering. It offers 48 majors (directions), covering 10 major categories, including electronics and information, equipment manufacturing, transportation, civil engineering, finance and trade, tourism, resources, environment and safety, food, medicine and grain, culture and art, education and sports, and 24 major categories. Among them, the major of mechatronics technology and the major of ventilation technology and safety management have been identified as the backbone majors of the action plan for the innovative development of higher vocational education; the major of mining electromechanical and intelligent equipment and the major of mechatronics technology are provincial characteristic majors; the major of mining electromechanical and intelligent equipment is a project supported by the central government to enhance the professional service industry development capacity of higher vocational colleges; the major of mechatronics technology, intelligent food processing technology, ventilation technology and safety management, and e-commerce are the "comprehensive reform pilot projects" of higher education institutions in Henan Province; the major of preschool education has been identified by the Ministry of Education as a pilot major for the reform of the qualification of primary and secondary school teachers for normal students to be exempted from examination. The college has complete teaching facilities and advanced teaching equipment. It has nearly 150 on-campus teaching, scientific research, and experimental training rooms, including the "Intelligent Manufacturing Training Center", "Teacher Vocational Skills Training Center", and "Computer Information Technology Training Base". It has built a "Coal Mine Safety Training Base" and "Construction Technology Training Base" supported by the central government, and the "Food Processing and Storage and Inspection Training Base" and "Electronic Technology Training Base", which are demonstration training bases for higher vocational education in Henan Province. The college has co-built off-campus internship training bases with Chen Silou Coal Mine, Cheji Coal Mine, Longyu Coal Chemical, Electromechanical Manufacturing and Repair Factory, Henan Lexiang Decoration Company, and other units to achieve full coverage of professional skills teaching and full coverage of student internship positions. The college's off-campus training base--Henan Longyu Energy Co., Ltd. Chen Silou Coal Mine was rated as the first batch of demonstration comprehensive training bases for higher vocational education in Henan Province. The college has signed school-enterprise cooperation agreements with more than 60 well-known domestic companies such as Henan Energy and Chemical Industry Group, Haier Group, Midea Group, Lenovo Group, Sanquan Food, etc., and jointly opened special order classes with Yongmei Group, Shenhuo Group, Cixing Group, and Fangtai Group, and established the Yongyixiang E-commerce Campus Entrepreneurship Training Incubation Center with Henan Yongyixiang Company. In May 2022, the college signed a school-enterprise and school-enterprise strategic cooperation agreement with the People's Government of Yongcheng City, Yongmei Group, Shenhuo Group, Yongcheng Economic Development Zone, and Yongcheng Tourism Development Group. By introducing enterprises into the school, school-enterprise interaction, alternating work and study, and order training, the college deepened school-enterprise cooperation and integration of production and education, and explored a reform and innovation path of "service as the purpose, employment as the orientation, quality for survival, and characteristics for development", which greatly improved the employment quality of graduates. The college actively explores and innovates, makes full use of its advantageous school resources, conducts diversified training for the society and enterprises, and builds a diversified school system. The college is a national social training and evaluation institution for vocational skill level certification. It conducts training for 27 types of work, including public nutritionists, e-commerce technicians, childcare workers, lathe operators, electricians, and computer repairers, for the society. It also conducts professional training for local institutions and social labor training, which greatly enhances the brand effect of the college and its ability to serve social and economic development.
