Ningxia Vocational and Technical College for Nationalities is a full-time higher vocational college with distinctive characteristics. Its predecessor was the Ningxia Provincial Nationalities Public School founded in 1952, which was renamed Wuzhong Normal School in 1956. In 2001, Wuzhong Normal School, Wuzhong Workers Technical School, and Wuzhong Vocational Education Center merged into Wuzhong Vocational and Technical College, which was renamed Ningxia Vocational and Technical College for Nationalities in 2006 and moved to its current address in 2009. The college covers an area of 1,000 acres and has a building area of nearly 160,000 square meters. It currently has 437 faculty and staff and nearly 8,000 full-time students (90% of whom are from the region). It currently has 7 departments, including the Department of Agricultural and Animal Husbandry Technology, the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the Department of Rehabilitation Nursing, the Department of Education, the Department of Economic Management, the Department of Art Design, and the Department of Preschool Education. It offers 28 majors in various categories, including basic education, health industry, art design, mechanical and electrical engineering, modern textiles, economic management, and dairy industry. Two majors, Modern Textile Technology and Interior Art Design, have been established as pilot majors of the "Modern Apprenticeship System" of the Ministry of Education; three majors are key majors in the Ministry of Education's Innovation and Development Action Plan; three majors, Preschool Education, Nursing, and Interior Art Design, have been approved as high-level majors in the autonomous region's higher vocational education; Nursing and Mechatronics professional groups have been identified as high-level professional groups in the autonomous region; in 2021, the college was identified as a "double-high" college construction unit in the autonomous region. In recent years, the college has adhered to the status of "core party building and teaching center", adhered to the school motto of "establishing morality, cultivating people, and developing skills", and in accordance with the school-running principle of "what the government wants, what the society needs, what the students expect, and what the college can do", it has kept a close eye on the needs of industrial development, and carried out comprehensive reforms and effective explorations in six aspects: "optimizing professional structure, transforming teaching models, promoting connotation development, deepening the integration of production and education, improving teaching quality, and creating distinctive brands". Adhering to the concept of "open and flexible schooling", the college vigorously promotes the integration of industry and education, and carries out in-depth cooperation and exchanges at four levels: "school-enterprise, school-school, school-local and international". In accordance with the principle of "comprehensive development, resource sharing, complementary advantages and win-win cooperation", it has led nearly 200 industries, enterprises and institutions to establish the "Wuzhong Vocational Education Alliance", listed the "Ningxia Dairy Modern Industry College", established 107 off-campus internship and training bases, and formed a benign interaction mechanism of "government, industry, enterprise, school and research" to achieve the optimal allocation of vocational education resources. It has carried out substantive cooperation with 13 well-known colleges and universities such as Changzhou Engineering, Changzhou Textile, Shandong Animal Husbandry, Weifang Vocational College, Zhejiang Economy, Jinhua Vocational College, and Beijing Finance and Trade in teacher exchange, professional construction, internship training, student exchange, professional training, etc., and jointly implemented the "two links and one promotion" (joint enrollment, joint training, and joint promotion of employment) talent training model with many enterprises, and the proportion of students' practical teaching hours has increased to more than 50%. The college adheres to the overall leadership of the Party, takes the characteristic brand of party building of "casting souls as pioneers, and cultivating oneself with refined skills" as the carrier, and comprehensively promotes "three-dimensional education". It has been identified as a "three-in-one" work demonstration point by the Propaganda Department of the Autonomous Region Party Committee and the Propaganda Department of Wuzhong Municipal Party Committee. The Party Committee of the College was rated as a "five-star party organization" by the Autonomous Region Education Working Committee, and two party branches were named "National Party Building Work Model Branch" and identified as "National Party Building Work Model Branch" creation and cultivation units by the Ministry of Education. One party branch was rated as "the advanced grassroots party organization in the whole region"; 12 party branches were rated as "five-star party organizations" by the Autonomous Region Education Working Committee and Wuzhong City. The college has established a six-in-one teaching system of "teaching, learning, doing, competing, creating, and educating" and a five-level vocational skills competition system of "national, autonomous region, city, college, and department", and has made continuous breakthroughs in participating in the National Vocational College Skills Competition. After winning the third prize in nursing skills in 2017, the school has successively won third prizes in industrial design technology, preschool education professional skills, sandbox simulation business operations and other projects, and won the second prize in industrial product digital design and manufacturing. Participated in the China "Internet +" College Students Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition and won the national bronze medal and the autonomous region gold medal. The dance "Beautiful" won the first prize in the National College Students Art Exhibition. In the past five years, the school has won 81 first prizes, 182 second prizes, and 317 third prizes in the autonomous region's vocational college skills competition. The employment rate of graduates has reached more than 96%. The college currently has 4 doctoral students, 100 graduate students, 94 lecturers, 64 associate professors, 4 professors, and 29 part-time teachers who are hired from external enterprises, including factory directors, managers, and engineers. The college adheres to the progressive growth and training mechanism of "five-level teachers" (qualified, dual-qualified, backbone, professional leader, and teaching master), continuously promotes the "three teachings" reform of teachers, teaching materials, and teaching methods, and persists in "teaching evaluation reform, teaching reflection, and curriculum revolution", and has built a team of teachers with high moral character, excellent quality, superb skills, combination of full-time and part-time teachers, practical skills and high professional teaching ability. Through continuous efforts, the college has won the Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award for Outstanding School, "National Women's Contribution Group", "National May 4th Red Flag Youth League Committee", "Autonomous Region National Unity and Progress Creation Activity Demonstration School", "Autonomous Region Civilized Campus", "Autonomous Region Water-saving University" and other honorary titles. It has won the Outstanding Contribution Award in the Vocational College Skills Competition in the region for six consecutive years and the Excellent Grade in Wuzhong City's Performance Target Assessment for seven consecutive years.
