Minbei Vocational and Technical College was established in 2004 with the approval of the provincial government and is a full-time public general higher vocational college organized by the Nanping Municipal People's Government. The college was formerly known as Jianyang Normal School, Nanping Economic and Trade School and Nanping Amateur University. It is now an advanced unit for employment and entrepreneurship in Fujian Province, a project construction unit for "high-level professional groups" in Fujian Province, an entrepreneurial incubation base for college graduates in Fujian Province, a civilized campus in Nanping City and a safe unit in Nanping City. The college has established 5 departments, including the Department of Education, the Department of Design, the Department of Management, the Department of Information, and the Department of Food, and 30 majors. There are currently 8,803 students, 223 faculty and staff, 1 provincial high-level professional group, 1 provincial service industry characteristic professional group, 2 provincial demonstration majors, 8 provincial dual system talent training model reform pilot majors, 2 provincial modern apprenticeship pilot majors, and 2 provincial innovation and entrepreneurship education reform pilot majors; there are 105 off-campus internship and training bases and 14 on-campus training bases, including 2 productive training bases supported by the central government, 2 provincial productive training bases, and 1 provincial high-level professional production-education integration training base; full-time teachers have senior professional and technical titles accounting for 25.6%, postgraduates or masters accounting for 61.6%, and dual-qualified teachers accounting for 52.2%. There are 6 provincial teaching masters, provincial professional leaders, and provincial excellent teachers. The college continues to deepen teaching reforms and continuously improve the quality of talent training. The employment rate of graduates has reached more than 95%, and the satisfaction of graduate employers has reached more than 96%. The college has continuously strengthened the cultivation of students' vocational skills, and has won 2 national awards and more than 130 provincial awards in the skills competition. The college has vigorously strengthened the innovation and entrepreneurship of students. In 2021, it won 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, and 3 bronze medals in the 7th Fujian Internet + College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, and 1 first prize and 1 second prize in the 4th "Chuang Xiang Fujian" College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. The college's college student entrepreneurship incubation base was rated as the "Fujian Province Public Innovation Space". It connects with the construction of Nanping National Green Development Demonstration Zone, focuses on Nanping’s “3+4+5” industrial clusters and “five ones” characteristic industries, and closely revolves around making Northern Fujian Vocational and Technical College a “highland for the cultivation of high-quality technical and skilled talents in northern Fujian, a highland for technological innovation of northern Fujian’s leading industries, a highland for vocational training in northern Fujian, a base for the rural revitalization of northern Fujian, a base for the inheritance of northern Fujian’s excellent traditional culture, and a leader and demonstrator of northern Fujian vocational education”. It innovates the school-running mechanism of integrating production and education, and has established industrial colleges such as Himalaya Industrial College, Yuanli Industrial College, and Shengnong Industrial College. It has vigorously carried out reforms in talent training models, deepened school-enterprise collaborative education, and cultivated a large number of high-quality technical and skilled talents that meet the needs of northern Fujian industries, are satisfied with enterprises, and are competent for their positions. The school and the enterprise jointly built an applied technology collaborative innovation center, formed a collaborative innovation team, carried out applied technology innovation and vocational training, and served the industrial transformation and upgrading and enterprise development. The college is committed to serving the rural revitalization of northern Fujian. It took the lead in establishing two rural revitalization colleges in Jianou City and Songxi County, and formed an expert service team for the rural revitalization college. It actively selected more than 100 scientific and technological commissioners to participate in targeted poverty alleviation, beautiful rural construction, enterprise technological innovation, rural cooperative technical guidance, and farmers' employment skills training and improvement.
