Yantai University was founded in 1984 and was jointly established and continuously supported by Peking University and Tsinghua University. It officially enrolled students in 1985, became a master's degree-granting institution in 1998, was approved to serve the country's special needs doctoral talent training qualifications in 2012, and was approved to serve the country's special needs postdoctoral recruitment and training qualifications in 2020. It is a key comprehensive university under Shandong Province and the first batch of project construction units of Shandong Province's famous school project. It has won one second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, one China Patent Gold Award, three national social science achievement libraries, and more than 230 provincial and ministerial awards. It has presided over more than 500 national scientific research projects such as the National Natural Science Foundation, the National Social Science Foundation, and the National Key R&D Program, more than 1,000 provincial and ministerial scientific research projects, and more than 2,200 horizontal scientific research projects. We actively connect with the development of local strategic emerging industries and build an integrated development ecology of "government, industry, academia, research and application". We have built one provincial university science and technology park (provincial science and technology enterprise incubator) in Shandong Province, co-built a high-end science and education park (Bajiaowan Campus) with Yantai Huangbohai New Area, and co-built a pharmacy school, a nuclear equipment and nuclear engineering school, and a digital innovation school with well-known high-tech enterprises. The school-enterprise cooperation cases have been selected as typical cases of the national "School-Enterprise Cooperation·Double Hundred Plan".
