Tongchuan Vocational and Technical College is a public general higher vocational college affiliated to the People's Government of Tongchuan City, which integrates higher vocational education, adult education, non-academic education, and continuing education. It undertakes the important responsibilities of improving Tongchuan's vocational education system and building a skill-based society, and the historical mission of building Tongchuan's lifelong education system and building a learning society. The college was established in 2004 with the approval of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government. It was formed by the merger of the former Tongchuan Normal School, Tongchuan Workers' Health School, Tongchuan Education College, and Tongchuan Radio and Television University. It was officially put into operation in September 2005. The college successfully passed the evaluation of talent training in higher vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education in December 2010, passed the supervision of the operation of higher vocational colleges of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Government in September 2011, and accepted the inspection diagnosis of the expert group of the Provincial Department of Education in November 2015. In November 2019, it accepted the teaching diagnosis and reform review of the expert group of the Provincial Department of Education and passed it smoothly. In 2020, it was successfully established as a provincial civilized campus and was rated as a model unit of patriotism and support for the army in Shaanxi Province. The college is located in the west section of Chaoyang Road, Tongchuan New District, covering an area of 628 acres (of which the second phase project is planned to cover an area of 228 acres). There are 387,600 paper books and 245,000 electronic books in the collection. There are 90 professional experimental training rooms on campus and 80 off-campus internship bases; 7 training centers such as mechanical manufacturing, electrical and electronic and automation, construction engineering technology, materials engineering, nursing, humanities and computers have been built on campus, 2 famous teacher studios, teaching instruments and equipment with a total value of 51.3677 million yuan, and a total area of 29,560 square meters for practical teaching. At present, the construction of the second phase of the college with a total investment of 790 million yuan has been fully started as a key construction project in Tongchuan City, and it is expected to be fully completed and put into use in 2024. In the 18 years since its establishment, the college has adhered to the connotation development, strengthened the characteristic development, continuously improved the level of school education, cultivated and developed core competitiveness, and has accumulated more than 13,000 practical skilled talents of various types for the society. The college currently has 8 teaching units, including the School of Teacher Education and Management, the School of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, the School of Architecture and Materials Engineering, the Sun Simiao Medical College, the School of Continuing Education, the Basic Department, the Training Department, and the School of Marxism, as well as 14 party and government groups and teaching auxiliary institutions, including the Office, Organization and Personnel Department, Propaganda and United Front Department, and the Library. There are 347 faculty members, including 251 full-time teachers, 1 with a doctorate degree, 91 with a postgraduate degree, 50 teachers with senior professional titles (including 46 associate professors and 4 senior professors), 2 provincial teaching masters, and 3 municipal top talents. At present, the college enrolls students from 19 provinces and cities, including Sichuan, Chongqing, Henan, Shanxi, Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, and Ningxia, and has initially formed four professional groups: humanities, mechanical and electrical, construction engineering, and medicine. The professional settings are closely aligned with the needs of Tongchuan's industrial development. There are 25 three-year higher vocational majors and 7 five-year higher vocational majors. Among them, the central government supports one project to enhance the ability of professional service industry development, and three provincial professional comprehensive reform pilot projects; one provincial first-class professional cultivation project, one provincial high-level professional group, and two college-level high-level professional groups; the central government supports the construction of one training base and three provincial demonstration training bases; 10 provincial-level quality courses and 18 college-level quality courses have been built. It has built four vocational skills appraisal examination stations, training centers, and 8 provincial and municipal talent training bases. It has been identified as the implementation college of Shaanxi Province's "Everyone Skills Project". Tongchuan Community University is listed in our college and recruits students. The college currently has 9,663 full-time students (8,549 of whom are three-year higher vocational students and 1,114 are five-year higher vocational students), 2,591 adult education students, and the college's school scale is stable at more than 10,000 people. Looking into the future, the college will be guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, adhere to the principles of moral education, type positioning, and innovative development, and continue to deepen vocational education reform, the "Three-dimensional Education" project, and the "Double High Plan" construction, striving to build a high-level vocational college with distinctive characteristics, first-class provincial status, and a certain influence as soon as possible, and cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents for regional economic and social development.
