Honghe Health Vocational College is a full-time public higher vocational college established on the basis of Honghe Prefecture Health School founded in 1958. It was officially established in May 2012 and included in the national unified enrollment plan. In December 2015, it passed the talent training qualification assessment of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education. In July 2018, it passed the internal quality assurance system diagnosis and improvement review of higher vocational colleges of the Yunnan Provincial Department of Education. The school is a high-level professional group project construction unit in Yunnan Province, the second batch of digital campus construction pilot colleges of vocational colleges of the Ministry of Education, the Yunnan Province Vocational Education Informationization Benchmark School Cultivation Unit, the National Conservation Public Institution Demonstration Unit, Yunnan Province Safe Campus, Yunnan Province Civilized Campus, Yunnan Province National Unity and Progress Education Demonstration School, Honghe Prefecture Strengthening the Chinese Nation Community Consciousness Education Demonstration School, and the National Practical Skills Examination Base for Practicing Physicians (Clinical and Traditional Chinese Medicine). The school covers an area of 397,200 square meters, with a total building area of 193,400 square meters, including teaching buildings, experimental training buildings, morphological experimental buildings, basic medical experimental buildings, comprehensive training centers, educational information centers, gymnasiums, libraries, student apartments, canteens, etc. There are 6 practice bases, 206 experimental training rooms, 171 multimedia classrooms, teaching equipment worth 100 million yuan, and a library collection of 805,000 books. There are 4 affiliated hospitals, 20 teaching hospitals, and more than 190 practical teaching bases inside and outside the province. The school has 12 party and government management agencies, 18 teaching and auxiliary scientific research institutions, and 5 mass organizations; there are 5 party general branches and 8 directly affiliated party branches, with a total of 294 party members. There is 1 provincial-level "first-class party building" demonstration party branch and 2 state-level "standardized construction demonstration party branches". The school has a total of 489 faculty members, including 311 full-time teachers, 108 full-time teachers with master's degrees, and 7 in-service teachers pursuing doctoral degrees (2 are studying for a doctorate in philosophy, 2 are studying for a doctorate in linguistics, 1 is studying for a doctorate in pharmacy, and 2 are studying for a doctorate in medicine). The proportion of highly educated talents reaches 34.73%; 97 full-time teachers have senior professional titles, including 16 senior professional titles; 160 "dual-qualified" teachers, and the overall proportion of "dual-qualified" teachers reaches 62.75%, and the proportion of "dual-qualified" teachers among professional teachers reaches 73.02%. 4 teaching teams have entered the project construction of the Yunnan Vocational Education Teacher Teaching Innovation Team. The school actively offers medical and health majors that are urgently needed for the development of health and wellness in frontier ethnic minority areas and are compatible with the biomedical health industry. There are 1 provincial high-level professional group, 1 provincial backbone major, 8 provincial modern apprenticeship majors, and 5 state-controlled majors. It has built 5 professional groups: grassroots general medical service professional group, health care professional group, oral professional group, pharmaceutical professional group, and traditional Chinese medicine health care professional group. The professional group of health care throughout the life cycle was selected for the provincial high-level professional group project construction. The school has 13,000 full-time students and 6,600 students in higher education and continuing education. The school actively innovates the reform of medical talent training mode, deeply promotes the "dual subject" education of medical and educational collaboration, plays the leading role of medical and vocational talent training in southern Yunnan, and cooperates with hospitals to establish clinical secondary colleges and industrial colleges; explores joint school-running with secondary vocational schools in the region, and establishes a five-year, "3+2" talent training model; deepens school-enterprise cooperation, actively explores the three-year "1.5+1.5", "1+1+1" medical and educational collaboration and modern apprenticeship talent training, and cultivates urgently needed health talents for ethnic minority areas in border areas, and helps education to accurately alleviate poverty.
