The college was founded in 1978 and upgraded to a higher vocational college in 2002. In 2006, it was integrated with Qinghai Post and Telecommunications School. In 2015, it was built into a provincial key higher vocational college. In 2018, it won the Outstanding School Award of the Sixth Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award. In 2019, it became one of the 200 national high-quality junior colleges in the country, and it is the only architectural college in the Northwest region to be shortlisted. In 2020, it was rated as a national advanced collective of women's achievements, the first batch of "rule of law" demonstration schools in the province, the first "water-saving college", and a special reward for poverty alleviation in Qinghai Province. In 2021, it was rated as a national outstanding contribution unit for the cultivation of skilled talents, and was approved as a high-level school construction unit in the "double high" construction plan of Qinghai Province, and built a provincial "safe demonstration campus".
