The college was founded in 1978 and upgraded to a higher vocational college in 2002. In 2006, it was integrated with Qinghai Post and Telecommunications School. In 2015, it was built into a provincial key higher vocational college. In 2018, it won the Outstanding School Award of the Sixth Huang Yanpei Vocational Education Award. In 2019, it became one of the 200 national high-quality junior colleges in the country, and it is the only architectural college in the Northwest region to be shortlisted. In 2020, it was rated as a national advanced collective of women's achievements, the first batch of "rule of law" demonstration schools in the province, the first "water-saving college", and a special reward for poverty alleviation in Qinghai Province. In 2021, it was rated as a national outstanding contribution unit for the cultivation of skilled talents, and was approved as a high-level school construction unit in the "double high" construction plan of Qinghai Province, and built a provincial "safe demonstration campus". The college offers 30 majors covering the two major industries of construction and communication. Keeping up with the pace of the construction of a modern new Qinghai, focusing on the strategy of establishing a province based on ecology, in recent years, 6 new talent-scarce majors such as water conservancy and hydropower, and environmental engineering have been added, 2 national backbone majors, 1 national modern apprenticeship pilot major, 2 provincial "double high" professional groups, 2 provincial advantageous and characteristic majors, and 3 provincial key majors. In 2023, 3 provincial key (characteristic) majors and 4 provincial production-education integration experimental training bases will be selected. Highlight the characteristics of running a school with high-quality professional supply. It took the lead in establishing the Qinghai Construction and Communication Vocational Education Group, and was shortlisted as a cultivation unit of the second batch of national exemplary vocational education groups. It built an integrated development platform with more than 120 industry enterprises and scientific research institutes, cultivated two provincial-level industry-education integration enterprises, and established a municipal industry-education consortium. The college is a national-level continuing education base for professional and technical personnel, a national-level vocational education "dual-qualified" teacher training base, and a provincial-level high-skilled talent training base. In the 46 years since its establishment, the school has always adhered to the purpose of serving development and promoting employment as its orientation, and has cultivated more than 50,000 high-quality technical and skilled talents who can "go down, stay, use, and do well" for Qinghai, and trained more than 180,000 professional and technical personnel. The employment rate of graduates, the professional matching rate, and the satisfaction of employers have all remained above 90%.
