Yunnan Sports Vocational and Technical College is located in the National Tourism Resort on the Dianchi Lake in Kunming, Spring City, covering an area of 200 acres and a school building area of more than 90,000 square meters. The school was formerly known as the Yunnan Youth Sports School founded in 1964. It was established as the Yunnan Sports School in 1978 and was established as the Yunnan Sports Vocational and Technical College in 2004 with the approval of the Yunnan Provincial People's Government.
